We loved staying at this heritage house. Everything has been renovated carefully keeping its original construction and decor. The owner, Jill is an excellent hostess and the breakfast she cooks are great!! The room we stayed in was perfect for us but if you are tall and big, you may find the bed a too small. Otherwise, the experience staying here was wonderful.
Absolutely amazing place to stay! Beautiful and historic. Jill and Scott went above and beyond. Breakfast every morning was delicious. Close to many Alaskan attractions. Perfect choice for our family's vacation.
We had an amazing time at the Heritage House. It was clean and so beautiful. Jill and Scott were wonderful and so helpful. Jill’s breakfast was delicious. I definitely recommend anyone staying in Fairbanks who doesn’t want to stay in a hotel and wants to be close to downtown this is the place to stay.
Recently spent a few days at this wonderful location, the staff were terrific, the rooms were both beautiful and comfortable with modern and historic touches of detail all over; plenty of near by things to do for food, shopping or entertainment within a short walk. I would absolutely stay again.
This review is 5 stars only because we had Margo. Margo is an employee, she doesn’t own this B&B and she may or may not be there when you book it, so I would say this is a review qualifier. Margo was amazing, cooked the best breakfasts, provided all the information we needed, offered to drive us around, she does above and beyond her job at this hotel. She even went to the store to buy us specific dishes for breakfast. Never had that before in any B&B.
This is a historic house, almost like a museum, where every room is decorated with antiques and where you can learn a lot about the history of Fairbanks and Alaska just from going from room to room. It is really fascinating. The decor is not modern, the bathrooms are old, but that’s the whole point. There is no TV anywhere in the house, but then again, there wasn’t a TV back in 1916 when this house was built. I would also say that the heating system is amazing.
The kitchen is part of the public space here, which is unusual for a B&B, and that’s because no one lives here. It’s fully stocked with snacks and drinks and everything you need. We got special treats for our stay in our room as well, which had a fully functioning kitchen for our own private stay.
The piano hasn’t been tuned since the Raegan administration, but did I say the house is full of antiques?
Location is perfect, 2 minutes walking distance from downtown Fairbanks. Parking is not an issue unless the place is packed in the summer, but we’re there in September.
The main issue of concern for you if you plan to book this house is who owns it and who works there. You should check out if it’s the same as it was back in the summer of 2023. If it is - it’s a great deal.
However, there is a major shortage of skilled labor in Fairbanks and so for example the rooms are not cleaned everyday, and if it gets any worse - not sure you’ll get freshly cooked breakfast either. (Margo is a friend of the owner, and not sure she’ll keep doing this next summer).
To summarize, this is a little overpriced, but it’s worth the money if the level of service is what it should be. We loved spending time in this house, we loved checking all the rooms (most were vacant since this was September) and we loved the food Margo cooked for us. We would stay there again if she was there when we came.
We stayed here at the end of a 3 week adventure all over Alaska, and it was a surprising jewel of a place. This house is unique, ornate, quirky, and beautiful. The host Margot was one of our favorite people on the entire trip, we still talk about her and the house.
We want to return to Fairbanks just to return to the Heritage house :)
We stayed 2 nights here & were very glad we chose this hotel. This heritage house is beautifully maintained, decorated, & furnished. It is like stepping back in time. The location is within easy walking distance of downtown. And Margot serves a wonderful breakfast, & her enthusiasm and cheerfulness genuinely add to the experience.
This B&B exceeded my expectations. There is so much history in the house and they did their absolute best to keep it. Walking through the house and being thrown back to the previous century is an attraction on its own!
Drinks and snacks are provided for the guests, besides the breakfast, which is a huge plus.
Our host, Margo, is also a true sweetheart, so thank you!
Dropped in for a Saturday Class. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The gym was huge, clean and warm! The workout was sweaty, loved it! Highly recommend if you are visiting, super easy drop in process.
I had a great time!! Shania was an excellent coach!! She taught me how to gold sift with a pan, dirt and water. Amazing found some gold pieces with her help , enough to cherish my time in Alaska. Selena and thank you for the great customer service an
