Alaska Grizzly Lodge - Featured Reviews (77)
Great rooms in big house. The host (Fred) is very gracious, and provides every morning a nice breakfast. The B&B is more focused on "winter" guests to see the aurora; they definitely accommodate that. I would stay there again. especially the big (2nd floor) community room is nice and cozy.
My husband and I reserved a room for a couple of nights in July, but we were forced to cancel our trip to Fairbanks. Fred and Janet were so kind, and they refunded all of our money with no hesitation. Even though we did not actually stay at the inn, the owners' cooperation says a lot about the type of place they manage. The Inn comes highly recommended and we look forward to staying with them when we return to Fairbanks. We are always looking for a top rated place to stay when we travel, and the AK Grizzley Lodge meets our requirements. Thank you Fred and Janet for working with us in this unfortunate situation. You certainly made a difficult situation easier.
Lovely stay at the Alaska Grizzly Lodge. It was warm, cozy clean and the hosts Janet and Fred provide warm, friendly and knowledgeable hospitality. If you want a fancy hotel with a spa like feel, it's not the place for you. However if you want to feel you are staying with friends in a woodsy cabin, highly recommend. Janet's passion for the aurora is infectious, she ensured we woke up when it was visible, and helped everyone get pictures. Would absolutely stay here again. Far enough from the city to be away from major light pollution, close enough to eat in town.
We booked using Booking.com in November 2023 (for September 2024). I contacted the Lodge once and the person on the phone was pleasant. In January 2024, I tried to reach the property again, and have not be able to reach them again --- January through May. I have tried email, text, phone and message via Booking.com. Nothing. So now I have cancelled and fighting for my refund of over $1500. I have involved Booking.com and my credit card. Place sounds great, but something is amiss.
We stayed at the grizzly lodge along with a tour group of 10 people. Janet was our guide for all of our outings and she really knows her stuff! We saw northern lights several times during our weeklong stay and it was pretty exciting to hear the knock on our door letting us know that they were showing outside. Fred had a great breakfast for us each morning and we had a blast seeing all the local sights and attractions.
We loved our stay here in February, booked in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights (which were unbelievable!) The lodge was warm and clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. The guests often gathered and talked in the common areas, inspired by the spirit of adventure and the aurora chase. Our hosts and the owners of the lodge, Fred and Janet were wonderful. Together, they could fill a library with their stories and scientific understanding of the aurora and all things Alaskan. To top it off, we could lie cozied up asleep at night and count on a friendly tap-tap-tap on the door anytime the aurora was out and skies were clear! I was thrilled with the photos of the Northern Lights that I captured from lodge observation decks and grounds.
We have stayed here twice. Both times have been absolutely superb. This is a great place to stay, just outside of Fairbanks but very convenient to the city and lots of different activities.|The rooms are very comfortable, have everything you need. They have thought of all the little amenities. There are many viewing decks, some rooms have balconies that you can go out to view the Aurora.|They will wake you up if the aurora shows up and not only that, they will make sure that you are out there if you happen to sleep through, they will make sure you get out there if you would like to be there.|Fred and Janet are absolutely delightful. Both of them are highly experienced and know everything there is to know about Alaska. There was not a single question we asked that they did not have a ready answer for. They are extremely helpful and can suggest and describe different activities. I recommend this place without hesitation, we plan on coming back to Fairbanks and will stay here again.
Absolutely loved this place! Great location, easy to find, very welcoming and accommodating. Janet and Fred were super kind and willing to assist us with everything from providing artic gear to where to stop on the way to Denali for the best photo ops. Of course you can stay and see the Northern lights from the lodge or for less light pollution you can head out of town. Great place to start your adventure and the breakfast is the best!!!
We stayed for two nights before starting our 2 weeks Alaska vacation by car. The front desk check-in staff were extremely nice considering it was 2am. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. We didn't eat at the restaurants on site so can't revi
Dropped in for a Saturday Class. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The gym was huge, clean and warm! The workout was sweaty, loved it! Highly recommend if you are visiting, super easy drop in process.
