AJ's on the Bayou - Restaurant in Fort Walton Beach - 200 Eglin Pkwy NE, USA

I'm not sure where to start, after we were finished with our food it was like pulling teeth to get our check. The food was mediocre at best and super expensive for what we had (50 bucks for some chips, 2 tacos, and a salad) and we were seated in front of a door that led out to the dock where a guide was cleaning fish. I get it, the restaurant is at a dock what do you expect, but the smell of the fish/water was almost too much for us. Maybe this was just a first time coincidence, but I won't be back to find out.

Such a beautiful setting! Service and food very good. Drink of the day amazing! Go during the day and enjoy sitting outside. Heat lamps are on when it's chilly!

Listen.. AJs is a lot of things.. The live music? Fantastic. The cheap fruity drinks? Better than most. The views of the water? Hard to pass up… What it’s not though…? A restaurant I’d drive out of way (while on the panhandle) or recommend to someone based on the food and service… having said that, my experience was more than desirable.

Dog friendly, with a good patio view. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a large, free parking lot out front. Always an available space. Easy. II. SERVICE The food was timely; the waitress was not. We had to hunt her down after waiting 20 minutes for our check. III. QUALITY I wouldn't say this is the place to go to for food and leave it at that. My party was dissatisfied. On a positive note, I can see this place being more known for its bar ~ something we didn't experience for ourselves. IV. CAPACITY The indoor dining was almost empty. Most people will sit at the patio area.

We took our family for brunch and it was so good. We started with breakfast nachos and oysters Italiano. I would have liked the egg on the nachos to be sunny side up as advertised, but still ver good. The oysters were perfect. My uncle and I had the breakfast bowl. Really good. My aunt and cousin had the Southern Benedict with fried green tomato and both said it was wonderful. My husband had the seafood sampler. I tasted the stuffed crab, delicious. The atmosphere is fun and the service was attentive.

We always love coming here on the weekend and sitting outside on the deck and listening to the bands playing. They have a big menu so there is something for everyone in your group. We tried the special appetizer, cheesey spuds, it wasn't bad but there are other apps I would choose next time. The onion rings are awesome and always work for a big group! If you can catch the fire cracker shrimp on special, get it as it is awesome! We have had both Todd and Anna and they both rocked it. Go and plan on hanging out and enjoy good food and drinks and listen to some great music.

I was visiting from Pinellas County, and my local friend brought us here for dinner. Everything was AMAZING 👏🏻. The fried green tomatoes with the shrimp, scallops and andouille sausage was out of this world good. The blackened red fish was soooo good, and oysters Rockefeller were fantastic as well. They had a great band outside on the deck and we had a wonderful time tonight. Thanks AJ's!!

This is an underestimated restaurant and I think it was better than waiting for an hour to eat @ The Shack. AJ's on the Bayou is absolutely delicious and just a beautiful place to eat by the water. They have plenty of seating, quickly and efficiently we were served our food. Best Vacation Ever!
