Accessible during the winter. Is a frequently used trail so the path is packed down. Falls are nice but are hard to see though the trees. You can also walk up to the trusses and look down over the falls, but is slippery in winter especially after the melt. But is a great view from the top and see the full length of the river both ways. There is also a walkway under the road from the rest stop.
One of my favorite roadside parks. The bathrooms are just latrines but the waterfall makes up for it. There is a paved, highly accessible, and short trail that goes under the road, under the train bridge, to an overlook for the main falls. The view has gotten a bit obscured by new growth trees in recent years. There are also several smaller falls visible from the trail. There is not a ton of parking for longer vehicles/trailers, so if you are in a shorter vehicle, please don't take up the long parking!
Good easy walk to the lookout platform, however they need to clear out some trees to actually see the falls. The rail bridge is an impressive example of ironwork and engineering.
One of the most stunning rest stops and Waterfall hikes in Michigan! Follow the trail to 2 areas. One area is straight up on a challenging rustic path, I mean straight up, to the bridge that allows you to look straight down to the falls and out over the amazing area. The second area is either walking across the bridge and trailing straight down to the rivers edge, on either side of the bridge to get the straight on shots. Very challenging and I imagine if the weather is just slightly wet or icy that you shouldn't do it.
Short easy hike but not the greatest views of the falls as the trees have really filled in the cliff. Better views are from on top of the old train bridge which involves following a branch off trail up the hill from near the street bridge. Just use caution while up there as it is an active ATV/snowmobile trail.
Awesome, a must see! If the area is dry enough, climb up the side of the hill to the topside of the trestle and get the overhead view of both sides. The trestle no longer carries rail traffic but has been converted to a hiking/biking/snowmobile trail and is safe to walk on. Outstanding views!
Easy parking, paved path and Picnic areas. There is a steep hill that you can climb to access the railroad bridge over the falls.
Beautiful place to explore! Wish I could’ve spent more time here & checked out the various hiking trails.
Most of the trail is board walk but there is a lot of open opening to get up to the water so you are not completely blocked off and gives a lot of opportunity to get good pictures with out catching gates and rails in the photo. It is a well trafficke
