Only went here for about a month but ended up not being a good fit! First, the staff seemed really nice and the equipment was high quality. There are varieties of classes and it’s clean compared to other gyms in the area! However, it seems like they put all of their old equipment up against the walls so it felt very cluttered at times. The benches/dumbbells station is pretty small. Most times I went, there would be someone on the ground between the benches, rendering half of the benches useless. There also wasn’t a great spot to put my wallet, keys, and other things. There were hooks to hang jackets so I started just bringing a jacket so I could put my things in the pockets just so they had a spot. All in all, it wasn’t a good fit for me but I would recommend this gym to anyone in the area looking for an alternative to one of the mega gyms like anytime fitness.
I love my gym. On the pricier end without too many amenities (or other locations) but all of that ends up being worth it for
1) *all the equipment I want is almost always available when I need it* and I cannot underscore how great that is
2) chill staff
3) month-to-month membership is standard with no sign up fees and zero run around if you want to quit your membership (I did because I thought I was moving but restarted it recently bc I'm still around)
4) I can walk to it from my apartment, which probably doesn't apply to you
Solid gym extremely professional instructors. Always clean. I read some of the lower ratings and they are not true. The person is not communicating to staff. Example the bull sheet knurlung comment. The bars have grip and there is chalk available all the time.
For what I have needed, this gym has been perfect! The space is pretty small, but very clean and bright, and they have four spots on the power rack and extra barbells for other exercises if you need them. Everything is kept in great condition and all of the staff are very friendly!
Update: Came back for my second summer and its still a great gym! They added some new machines like a hip thrust and sissy squat machine as well. Really like my gym membership money going to a small business instead of a chain gym and although I don't participate in the class community, I can tell the atmosphere is positive and very caring.
Huge fan of this gym!
I was looking for a smaller gym with a more personal feeling/not as crazy busy. I have had memberships at Lifetime Fitness and Edge Fitness. I would personally say 3N1 trumps them both due to 3N1’s friendly attitude and genuine care for their members.
I joined with the group classes in mind as I was looking for good full body and spin classes. Michelle is a group instructor who truly pushes members in her class in the best way possible.
Erin is a spin instructor who makes spin fun with a goal of personal growth verse lots of movement in other spin classes. So happy with my choice to join!
Just got a membership here 2 days ago.
The good: squat racks, enough machines for almost every body part, sleds (big plus), cable machines, the machines are good quality too, some specialty bars, has bumper plates. It also has filtered water and showers which is awesome.
The bad: Almost every bar in this gym has no knurling. This makes it really hard to hold the bar, and there is no chalk (which is understandable). The lack of knurling in this gym kind of kills it from being a great great gym. The pull-up bars are slippery, the barbells are slippery. This gym is definitely not for powerlifters, strongmen, or weightlifters but does well for its target population (normal people looking to be fit), and is probably good enough for body builders too if they bring their own straps along. There are also no specialty machines like belt squat, or glute hyper extension machines. But you can’t really expect that out of a gym with this price point.
Summary: Solid gym, and am looking forward to having a membership here, but will def have to bring my straps every time. Lack of knurling also may cause injury.
Update: Lack of knurling on barbells is definitely an injury risk. It is very easier for your grip to slip up when benching or doing shoulder press. Knurling definitely kills this from being a great gym but it’s still the best in the area disregarding the umich rec centers. Honest opinion from someone watching the trainers for a long portion of time: they are not knowledgeable in training. It seems no one who gets trained follows a structured program, but it is alright if you are not doing anything in the first place, but not worth the money.
I’ve been a member of 3n1 for almost 2 years now. Having moved from Miami, I didn’t know anyone and wanted to be part of a gym that feels like a community. 3n1 delivers not only in cleanliness, equipment, top notch group classes, but its a place that welcomes everyone regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. They also have an infrared sauna and personal training options. Im always happy walking through the door!
I have worked out at many different places over the years and always felt like something was missing until I found 3N1. This gym is a great size, classmates have become friends, absolutely love the instructors and the variety of workouts is fantastic. Motivation is not a problem because you don't want to miss classes. I also used the treadmills to run on snowy and cold days and have participated in the 10 week challenge classes- mix of outdoor workouts all over Ann Arbor. You won't be disappointed when you check out 3N1.

I am very happy with my decision to go to Orangetheory. The workouts are super challenging and I feel like I really achieve fitness goals in the way the workouts are structured. It never feels boring because it's different every time. It's fun switch
I enjoy each time that I go to Spenga. The place is so clean, the instructors are always motivating you to continue and yo to cardio, strength and yoga at the end, so you come out with a full exercise routine and with a lot of energy.
Amazing gym! The classes are a great mix of strength and conditioning, and I love that thereâs always a little bit of core. The dedicated warm up portion is helpful too. The coaches pay close attention to peopleâs form as they go through the lift
Jess B. was so incredibly helpful and patient with me, because I had a lot of questions. She made sure that I got to try several different shoes so that I could pick which one was best for me. She is so incredibly knowledgeable about the running worl
