21C Museum Hotel is a must if you visit Louisville and even a casual art lover. (Is it an art museum with a hotel or a hotel with an art museum?) The minute you walk in you see the eye catching contemporary art on display. The exhibits rotate but we were told this one will be on view for the rest of the year as it just opened. The rooms are minimally decorated but good sized, with with luxury bedding, robes and lovely toiletries. We even had a walk out balcony with tab le and lounge chairs (too bad it was 28 degrees) The staff is friendly and very helpful. We brought our 55 lb golden retriever who was welcomed by all. The restaurant and bar are also full or fun quirky art. Wish we Ould have stayed more than one night
All of the gentleman working valet/entry were exceptionally well mannered, hospitable, polite and accommodating. I expected great things from 21C given the level of service these gentleman provided only to be woefully let down once I interacted with the individuals at the reception desk. The bed linens, larger bath towels, toiletries, and overall aesthetic of the lobby/"gallery" were exceptional. Location is ideal for anyone staying in Louisville with obvious ease of access to downtown as well as convenient access to 264, 64, and 65. However, Gone are the days of above and beyond customer service, especially at hotels, especially at this 21C. The individuals at the reception desk have an attitude of indifference and haughtiness. We decided to stay at this 21C as we were attending our good friends wedding in Louisville and the location is really great and was close to all of the venues we would need to get to. I had called ahead of time to ask if we would be able to secure a few extra chairs for the room as the groom and his father and brother would be getting ready in our room prior to the ceremony. I was told that it was too far in advance to facilitate such requests and I would need to call closer to the date of stay, which made sense and was fine. When we checked in, the receptionist was cold. Basically think of any antonym of hospitality that one could find in a thesaurus and you would be able to get a good idea of the overall attitude of almost all of the individuals working behind the receptionist desk. Exceptions to this were the one individual who helped my husband secure the needed two additional chairs for our room on Saturday and the phone customer service lady who helped me get a hold of the front desk when we had to call on Monday as to lost items (after being hung up on twice after being connected through to the front desk). Notwithstanding the terrible attitudes and general disdain for hospitality exhibited at reception, perhaps the biggest issue with our stay was the absolutely paper thin walls in the rooms. Over the weekend we were able to hear everything, and I mean everything from the adjacent rooms, including private telephone conversations, a crying infant, hair dryers, televisions and of course, sounds of intimacy. I would have expected that a hotel at this price point and at the level of "refined comfort" promised by the 21C brand, would have put more thought into noise cancelling of some kind.
Walking distance to the convention center Rooms were EXTREMELY clean and spacious. I mean no dust or dirt anywhere! I know because I wipe down everything at hotels rooms with disinfectant wipe and this room was so clean! Includes 2 water bottles in the room with refill station on each floor
Overall, it's a nice experience. That's a very small art museum. That's free to enter as long as you dine at the restaurant. So it makes a great experience for food and Experience. If you had here, I definitely suggest you check out proof on main.
First location of the 21c brand and a fantastic addition to the downtown landscape. Excellent rooms, service, food and atmosphere. Worth a trip as a tourist and as a local. Parking can be valeted or in the attached garage. A welcomed staple.
Quite an interesting hotel with extremely helpful staff during my visit. The museum is super interesting and a fun bonus to a business trip. So many quirky find on the property. And such a treat to have fun, interactive staff. Would definitely recommend this if you want something different!
Great boutique hotel with an added bonus of being a museum. Valet parking started the stay with a breeze through check in. The rooms were nice sized and clean. Bed and pillows were great. Complimentary aluminum water bottles and filtered water on every floor. A bourbon nightcap at the restaurant. Wonderful stay.
My room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The hotel was very interesting and loved the art. Loved the connected restaurant. My only issue was the pillows. They were all too big and uncomfortable. I asked the front desk if they could provide a flatter pillow which they were able to provide.
