Nestled in the Phoebus area it’s definitely a gem among gems. Date night or Night Cap. It’s a nice spot to grab a bite to eat and or have a few drinks while playing one of many table games. Not feeling a game unless it’s on the flat screen? Not a problem. Grab your drink and relax in the lounge area and watch whatever is playing on one of the big screens, or heck out the various historical facts post throughout the place. I do recommend this gem. Coffee, wings and flatbread are amazing!!!!!! I would highly recommend to everyone. I really loved the atmosphere too. I even took a moment to play a few games. Lemon pepper and jerk flavored wings, ordered an additional jerk wings to go!

Thanks 1865 Brewing Company for such a wonderful family Fall-time fun event... We we're amazed at the many memorabilia photo displays of rich historical African American history of motivational speakers, students also educators residing at the Hampton University, and the Historical Fort Monroe and much more. Not to mention the "Outdorsey" venue games and beautiful Patio bistro & lounge seating experience. Great for all special occasion event parties as well! We rated your lovely establishment 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Because of the tasty choices of all natural homemade Brews, Yummy snacky type foods. And Big Screen Sunday's noontime sportsman game-day viewing. Great "Giant wooden tables for corporate luncheons, or campus university student's computer in-tow and networking of colleague's book studying fellowship as well... As someone who loves beer and breweries, this is a great addition to the peninsula. I travel and have lived many places, and this genuinely rates amongst the top brewery destinations I have been to. I'm my opinion, Capstain is still the best place to go purely for the beer (They are in my global pantheon of beer makers), but this stands out as the place on the peninsula to go for a date or with the wife. The beer is good across the board, I would come back specifically for the juicy IPA, that was uniquely good. The coffee is great, and they have a solid seltzer base with a good selection of flavors to add, and they have an adventurous menu, which is awesome. My wife enjoyed being able to get hot tea, as well as nice food, and said I can take her there any time. So purely on quality of product, this is a must visit spot, and I will be back frequently. On a somewhat separate note, this is the first black owned brewery on the peninsula. I am a white male with basically all of the privilege. Every time I have come into a brewery and seen a crowd of almost only middle aged upper middle class white men it has struck me that If beer is proof that God loves is and wants us to be happy, it shouldn't be only people who look like me out here enjoying it. This place has seemed to break that barrier, and that is important. It's just beer, but it's not. So, thank you to the owners, and to all the people who support this place for whatever reasons you do.

Me and a few frat brothers stopped in to support. I tried a flight of the choco-cherry stout, all aboard porter, trusty apple saison, and the new mango sour. My favorite was the stout. I think the mango sour would be great in the summer. The spot is nice and easy to get to. The servers are friendly and they have various events on the calendar.

At last! 1865 is "soft" opened! The bartenderistas were friendly and answered the few questions I had about the coffee. They have tea, food, beer, and other beverages. It's definitely worth the wait. It's not a large space, but I'm sure it'll feel perfect once their outdoor seating is ready. Make sure you extend them grace as they've just opened, but I'm sure you'll enjoy your visit. I definitely did!

1865 brewing company is a great place to hang out. The food and beer are great. The staff is extremely friendly. The atmosphere is laid back. The layout is very nice. I will definitely be going there more often.

Everything you'd be looking for from a neighborhood, dive Brewery. This place will surely be there for some time. The atmosphere was chill. They serve food (I didn't order any so I won't review it). They have a nice but quaint patio with comfortable patio furniture. There's a firepit for for colder nights outside. You're able to view their "brewing equipment" via a glass window inside (nice touch). They offer drip coffee which provides a caffeinated experience without the bitter taste of traditional coffee (its a smoother cup of coffee that reminds you of tea). Theier variety was great offering: Assorted Flights, cider, IPAs and traditional beer. As a new guy in the area, I'd surely return for a quick date night or a night out with the guys. The music was fitting for the atmosphere, the area felt safe and there were even games on the patio. For my veterans in the area, they offer a military discount as well!
