After a business trip to Fort Worth concluded, on the way back home to Austin, I decided to stay the night in Waco. While there, I enjoyed a delicious meal in this hidden gem, 1424 Bistro, fit for a romantic evening for any couple.
The service was exceptional and timed perfectly. Anissa, the bartender was very professional with her recommendations, and I was immensely impressed by her knowledge of running any sector of a restaurant.
My selections for the evening included several new special appetizers and a Chef's Special Entrée which paired perfectly with a Pinot Noir from 1424's new Wine Menu.
I very much enjoyed the traditional Greek selections for appetizers which were the grape leaf wrapped Dolmades served with a delicious Tzatziki sauce and the Kasseri Cheese served flambé style at table. Also, I enjoyed several of the Fried cheese portions as a side. The Bone-in Pork chop was cooked perfectly and adequately balanced with the delicious serving of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetable medley.
For dessert, I enjoyed a Vanilla Crème Brûlée that was fired perfectly to form a crisp and sweetened crust and garnished deliciously with blueberries and strawberries. To finish, the bartender and owner got creative on the spot with a Tiramisu Martini and let me try this as it is a newly developed bar drink.
The atmosphere was eclectic and definitely a vibe to be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates delicious food that is reasonably priced and expertly prepared with an attention to detail that was unexpected, but a delight to experience. Live music, as I understand, is an added bonus for an enjoyable night.
I must say, I will be bringing my girlfriend back to this perfect spot for a lovely evening away from the big city.
I adore this unique atmosphere and incredible service. The Orange Vermouth Scallops are incredible and they have the best seafood in all of central Texas. Amazing and wine selection mixed with modern and vintage must-haves, this bistro is a regular for me!
Come for the saganaki, stay for absolutley EVERYTHING ELSE! My first experience with 1424 Bistro was almost 10 years ago and after returning for a dinner, I am elated to say, the standards of excellence have not changed. Fresh, local ingredients, knowledgeable & friendly staff, and a menu that stands the test of time. Seared scallops on the half shell, and a pan seared orange roughy with a lemon dill sauce finished succulent crab meat.
How it started….and how it ended!
The food was so Incredible we got lost in the flavors and forgot to take any pictures of it! We’ve lived in Waco 8 years and have no idea why we never have come here. We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday and 1424 Bistro did not disappoint!!!
What we ordered:
Caesar Salad (don’t think I’ve had better)
Chicken Piccata
Seafood Curry
French Silk (dessert)
Limoncello Prosecco
Balcones Texas Single Malt
Service was timely and incredible! Atmosphere is upscale but not too snooty! A truly come as you are type of place. Some guest in there were dressed up and some very casual.
A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or just treat yourself to a great dining experience in the heart of Texas!
We will be back!!
Been here before and was great. Tonight we sat for a half hour without ever meeting a server. Never even got water. Watched 4 tables be sat after us and get drinks and we still didn't even have water. Good way to lose a regular. We left and went to Nina's and had food and drinks in under 5 minutes.
First time customers (my aunt and myself).
A quiet and quaint restaurant with a soft ambiance.
We started with calamari and shrimp bisque. Both were amazing however the temp of the bisque was not hot enough. The calamari on the other hand was mind blowing. Auntie Kells had a Margarita. I had a vodka martini.
Her main course was chicken piccata while mine was an unbelievable roasted lamb shank. The mashed potatoes with mine had a creamy buttery flavor. All of the vegetables are fresh ! NOTHING out of a can. Even the butter was artisan with wildflower honey and star of anise.
CT was my waiter. We shared some stories and I enjoyed his company. He is amazing and we shall continue to support 1424 moving forward.
This is the best fine dining in Waco without a doubt. The pear martini is amazing, ask for it spicy. The steak was really good, not flawless though it had a bit too much char and not enough salt but it was tender and topped with delicious seafood.. I should clarify that I am extremely picky about meat quality so I have a very high bar. The tomato blue cheese appetizer was the best thing I've eaten in the last month and I'm not typically a big fan of blue cheese. I did not like the flaming cheese thing it was a bit funky although pretty to watch it lit on fire. Scallops and shrimp were cooked very nicely, no complaints. The stuffed portabella mushroom sounded good but was difficult to cut and wasn't that crazy about the filling which was similar to a lasagna. Our server, who I think was also the bartender, was extremely nice and talented.. she really couldn't have been any better I don't think. I can't wait to go back and try some different dishes but you can bet i'll be ordering that blue cheese tomato appetizer again (not on the menu)
I enjoyed a delicious meal at this Mediterranean Bistro. The food was perfect to suit my taste. I absolutely love the setting and architecture. The staff was the best! Warm, friendly and professional. My waiter even joined me in one of my pictures. I will definitely visit again and highly recommend.
Good food, come hungry you won't be disappointed. Big papi is a beast, seafood spud and Santa Fe / Latina are solid too. Get the large version if you can.
Took wife to visit the magnolia silos and wife said she has never had chicken and waffles so I had to make sure to fix that! Tried waffle chic and some of the best Chicken&Waffles I've ever had! Got the Spicy Mama and it was the perfect level of spic
Dined in and got the Mongolian Beef. Perceptibly sweet, but not overly so. I also prefer less sweet for my Asian food in general, so I think most people will be fine with, or even prefer, the level of sweetness. The dish was not overly-sauced and the

First time here. I took my son to celebrate his 18th birthday!! He's been to Top golf in Florida. I was clueless but Jordan, as well as numerous others, were super helpful. ð¤£ð¤£There was a point in which I wasn't scoring anything so I blamed it o
The PHO here is amazing!! Holy cow yummy. I also tried the grilled pork bowlâit reminds me of Vietnamese vermicelli, but here itâs served warm. The âhouseâ fish sauce with it is very mild flavored. The menu only has a few items, but it all se
My wife and kids all go here and I cannot tell you the difference I have seen in them all. Professor Turner and his staff is amazing!! Highly recommended!!
Green Door Lofts and the host, Jim, were amazing. The loft is centrally located with garage parking should you need it but it is within walking distance to plenty of shopping and dining. The loft was well appointed and stocked with comfortable living
What a fantastic place! Service and coffee was great. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Great variety of gluten free baked goods that are out of this world good. Met the owner of the Waco franchise, Amy, she was so friendly. She explained the concept

Our bowls were delicious and perfectly customized to our liking. The service was so friendly and they were very quick. I would recommend the chicken and also the beef. We love a healthy option at the Silos, so glad we tried it here!
1000/10 recommend!! Tess has been my favorite instructor so far, making the class manageable but still challenging for all levels of riders. I feel good knowing I can bring my friends and know we will all have fun and get a good ride out of it! Iâv

The atmosphere is one of the best for coffee shops. It also is not as loud as most coffee shops. There is no drive thru and I think that is a plus as itâs not a frenetic coffee shop. Great selection on coffee the Congo had great notes and the baked
Tiffany is an extremely friendly and sociable human being! I had done a DIY piercing job at home, which was perhaps the worst way I could have gone about it. Lots of stress and anxiety. The cheap jewelry I used was a headache and I ended up not heali
