Zostel Kodaikanal - Backpacker Hostel in Kodaikanal - Dindigul, India

The Zostel team were really welcoming and promptly helped us whenever needed. They provided us with adequate guidance to navigate our way through the trip. All in all a great experience!

Pros: We stayed in a private deluxe room couple of days back. The room was basic and had a good space with shower but too basic for the price that they charge. Cons: 1. There was no hospitality by any staff employed. All the employees look like they are annoyed by our requests. The receptionist on the day of our check-in was not responsive and he looked as if we are annoying him and disturbing him. 2. There were frequent power cuts that we couldn't use heater to bath and leave the property 3. The wifi was unstable 4. No backup generator 5. There is no view 6. For a private room and the amenities offered, the charges are too damn high 7. Being in Tamil speaking location but no one knew Tamil 8. People were smoking in front of our room This is my first stay at a zostel and I am really really disappointed. Won't recommend this to anyone.

It's near city centre. Provides basic amenities. No power backup and Wi-Fi doesn't work often. It's cheap and might suit back packers. There no view. For us geyser didn't work for a day or so. There's no person who speak native language. One of the receptionist was rude and non responsive. Wouldn't recommend if you have other choices

This was such a disappointment. I have stayed in so many different Zostels and they are one of the best out there. Booked Zostel Kodai with the same thought but I was so so disappointed. The rooms were soo shady, so dirty, the bedsheets and blankets were so so dirty and it did look like a local lodge. The room was right beside the restaurant/ cafeteria of theirs and it was noisy all the time. Towels were so grossly stained. Food was below average and expensive. There is no hygiene & cleanliness maintained. I also visited Zostel Poombarai which is in a secluded place away from main Kodai city and it was one of the best stays I have ever been to. But this one being in the centre of the city was such a great disappointment and all we wanted was to wait for the next morning to checkout and leave. I paid too much for the service that I got. It is a very old & unmaintained property. Dont go here with having great Zostel experience elsewhere.

1. Crowd : I was travelling solo for the first time, and it turned out to be great, I met a very diverse set of people and had great conversations with almost every one of them. Definitely contributed to a great experience. 2. Room : I had booked an 8 bed dorm room, and while the bed, pillow and comforter were good enough, the lockers are small and can hold only small items (maybe toiletry kits/mugs etc.) and not an entire backpack, you can buy/get your own lock for it too, I didn't face any issues since I just kept my bag on the bed, and safety of items wasn't an issue at all, almost always kept all my belongings out in the open. 3. Service : 0 complaints here, staff was super nice, Amaresh, Chef Shankar and Pintu, all of them were very approachable and helpful. 5/5 4. Food : Good food, I mostly repeated 2 things : Fried eggs and mushroom/sausage with toast for breakfast, chicken butter masala for lunch/dinner. Pizza is meh, maybe don't order that. Grab those pakodas and chai for sure.

I had a fantastic time at Zostel. The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. The rooms were clean, and I met interesting people. We had no issues with the bathroom as we were getting hot water all the time. The sunrise view from their common area is just awesome.

Amazing landscaping and super comfy rooms. Has all the essentials so you don't have to go out if you don't want to. Staff is also super chill. Food is great too

This place is one ok a kind. I Had amazing time here. The service was awesome here. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food is also good. Rooms are clean and the important part is the washroom which was regularly cleaned and we get hot water all the time ..
