A calm spiritual place. Place to sit and meditate and read. Silence is observed by all devotees. Situated on the banks of the River Ganga, the Ashram provides the much needed tranquil environment along with the well maintained gardens in the compound. A respectful atmosphere is maintained. Very good administration.

Very serene location beside river for retreat experience. Kali temple is at a walking distance and Serampore is also very easily accessible via ferry followed by local train. Food is delicious and homely. Volunteers and staff are very helpful and guide you well for visiting the pilgrimage spots related to Guruji. Sometimes Uber and other cabs don't come to ashram for pickup. In such a case, you may take toto till Dakshineswar Metro Station for 10 mins and take cab from there. If you visit during festival period, there may be firecracker sounds at night. The windows in rooms have glass panes that block the sounds well.

Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) was founded by Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917. Yogoda Satsanga Math at Dakshineswar serves as the registered headquarters of YSS. The history of the YSS ashram at Dakshineswar dates back to 1939, when the Math was established. The property at Dakshineswar with its stately building and serene surroundings was much cherished by Paramahansaji. In 1951, while addressing a large group of audience during the Self-Realization Fellowship Convocation, in America, he envisioned that Dakshineswar ashram will be visited by the devotees from India and all over ...

Nice YSS ashram. Paramhansa Yogananda himself selected the property although it was acquired much later. Serene place to meditate by the Ganga river.

This Dakshineswar Math is the headquarters of Yss Of India, founded by our beloved Guru dev Sri Sri Paramahansa Yoganandaji in 1917. Ashram is nearly 20 km away from Howrah Railway station and 1km from Dakshineswar railway station.
