This temple is to the South-East of Lower Ahobilam. The Lord is manifested in a Yoga pose and hence called Sri Yogananda Narasimha. The Priest was extremely friendly and explained to us the history of this area. The Sri Chatravata Narasimha temple is near by and the Kaasinayana Devalayam and Sri Garuda Hanumantha Devalayam are next door.
This is one of the nava Narasimha temple . The Moorthy of Narasimha is so beautiful and divine .
The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, who is incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple complex is spread over a vast area and includes nine different shrines, each one dedicated to a different form of Lord Narasimha. The architecture of the temple is truly stunning, with intricate carvings and sculptures adorning the walls and pillars. The temple's location, nestled amidst the majestic Nallamala Hills, adds to its charm and beauty. The lush greenery, the fresh mountain air, and the serene surroundings make it an ideal place for spiritual contemplation and meditation. One of the most unique features of the Ahobilam Narasimha Temple is that it is divided into two parts: the lower Ahobilam, which houses five of the nine shrines, and the upper Ahobilam, which houses the remaining four shrines. To reach the upper Ahobilam, visitors must undertake a challenging trek, which takes them through some of the most stunning scenery in the area. The temple is also known for its festivals, especially the Brahmotsavam, which is celebrated with great pomp and fervor. During the festival, the temple is beautifully decorated, and thousands of devotees flock to the temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings from Lord Narasimha.
What a place Ahobilam is! One should never miss this pilgrimage temple, which is nestling in Nallamala forest (with reigning deity as Laxmi Narsimha Swamy) but also lying midway between Hyderabad and Tirupathi and 35km from Allagadda town which is on Kurnool- cuddapah National highway. Ahobilam consists of Lower Ahobilam and Upper Ahobilam. Lower Ahobilam consists of a beautiful temple dating back to Vijayanagara period i.e. some 600 years back era. Upper Ahobilam consists of Nava Narsimha (9)temples, out of which Ugra Narasimha temple and Jwala Narasimha temples are must see temples. Visiting Jwala Narasimha temple is a bit difficult, as you have to trek Nallamala hills amid lush green forests with water falls etc. Those who cannot trek, they can hire doli which costs Rs 3000. Guide is a must for visiting Nava Narasimha temples. In whole of AP state only two Divya desams ( 108 very imp Vishnu temples) are there. One is Tirupati and the other one is Ahobilam. You can gauge the importance of this temple. Visiting Ahobilam = Pilgrimage+ trekking hills+wandering through lush green forests+water falls+ Divya desam.
One of the nine ahobila avatharam. Small temple, situated in a quiet place. It has a special navagraha temple with all nine avatars of Ahobila narashimas. Ample parking space with good garden besides it. You can enjoy scenic view of farms around it.
Priest comes very late to open the temple....we had to wait there for more than one hour .,and also there is no toilet facility there ....oh my God...had 10:30 am to have darshan
Lovely place for trekking and looking around. For the spiritual folk, this temple complex has amazing background information. It is believed to be preserved by Kasi Reddy Nayana, a staunch devotee of Narasimha. There is a shrine for him on top of a small hillock. Below, you have the compact shrine for Yogananda Narasimha, and a beautiful novel shrine for navagrahas. Novel, because there are nine Narasimhas, who have taken the position of the nine Hindu planets. All these Narasimhas are there as main deities in nine different places around Ahobhilam. Each Narasimha represents one specific planet. If you want to perform parihaara to any planet, you can do so to the respective Narasimha. Apart from all these spiritual info, the idols are very beautiful, and the whole set of Narasimhas, present a beautiful package for avid trekkers. Please visit in groups and enjoy the trek silently.
