after reading the reviews my initial thought was like i should not book this place for stay. But as i have already stayed in YMCA Mumbai. I though of trying it. and on whats app message i received the confirmation. Its 15 Min walk from Madurai railway Station, 10 min walk from Bus Stand and 05 min walk from Meenakshi Temple. centrally located from the market. 02 Min walk from The Modern restaurant ( Authentic and good food) I stayed 13-14 march 2023. All staff were very much co-operative. I think sometimes one should avoid the review and stay at all this places. Awesome stay. In future if i am there YMCA will e my first choice. They Don't have restaurant but the next door restaurant is very nice.

I visited YMCA Guest House with a group of students. It is perfectly located for exploring the Meenakshi Temple, the temple market and the vibrant center of Madurai. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed the view of the temple towers and the evening sky from the rooftop. The rooms are simple but offers a safe base for a group of young people. Food is well prepared and tasty.

Rooms r basic in decent price. Their services r very slows like cleaning etc. Near to temple eest gate.

The YMCA Guesthouse is perfectly located southwest of the Meenakshi temple. You have to cross a single road to enter one of the few pedestrian areas I encountered in India, which invites for nice strolls and - what I really loved - to visit the temple in the early morning hours. The area around the temple is generally the place to be and a shoppers heaven. For cloths I can recommend Pothys (walking distance west) and the ,,temple market" (which is no longer within the temple due to conservation efforts but right next to it). In the later you can get tailor-Made cloth for a good price which I can recommend. The staff is super helpful and is experienced to cater western guests due to the international connections of the YMCA. I stayed there already several times and felt nearly like coming home when I visited in 2023. The rooftop, which does not have a restaurant, is accessible, which allows calming down after a busy day. Small downside are the rooms, as two of I think 17 are out to the front and therefore a bit noisy, and the bathrooms while clean could still improve (but then the rent is also a bargain, so it's kind of fair)
