YAMUNA GHAT - Hindu temple in Delhi - North East, India

As you reach at the first end of Yamuna bridge, coming from Majnu ka Tila side, first you notice a mandir, which is maintained but not too big. Fisherman use their boats every evening, and as the sun sets, The signature bridge that you can witness full, Lights up, with smart lights. I have been enjoying the visuals, since i have been in Delhi. But garbage in the river ruins alot of your pleasure, if you visit be prepared for that.

One star off is for the location not being updated on Google maps . And my advise is that for such locations, along rivers or beaches, do not blindly trust Google Maps. Ask, ask and ask the directions. Google had the audacity to take me to the other bank of Yamuna and when I reached, it said "walk rest of the way" .... Literally meaning walk across the river in full spate!! The Yamuna Ghat itself was OK. There is a temple. Then steps leading down in the water. There was a lot of gushing water. Though Delhi was dry, guess this was due to heavy rains in the catchment areas that had made Yamuna river to swell up! Great view of the flowing river. At a distance the signature bridge made a good sight at night. Lot of vagabonds and labourers were sleeping at the bank of the river. They weren't looking threatening but we had to be careful.

This place was selected by WAPCOS and NPCC together to carry out *Shram Dan.* Around 150 employees attended volunteerily to clean the banks of the ghat and tried to make it free from plastic. Lots and lots of filth and litter made by the pilgrims and devotees was removed, filled in eco friendly sacks and bags and then was transported by municipal vehicle for it's proper disposal. There are a couple of Shops nearby which are also responsible for the clutter. They serve in cups and plastic bags to devotees who in turn litter the place. Very good arrangements were made by WAPCOS (My company; a part of Jal Shakti Ministry) We were provided with hard brooms, hand gloves and masks to keep ourselves away from infection. Dettol liquid was also provided. All participated with full vigour and enthusiasm. To top the all Secretary Jal Shakti Ministry Shri UP Singh attended and participated along with our Managing Director Shri AK Gupta. There is a Shiv Temple on he Ghat and many school and college students and devotees visit the place. The flow of water is very huge and it's dangerous to get closer. Many rituals are also conducted on the ghat by relatives of the people who had died. More than 90% of plastic waste was removed and it was a very satisfying experience. Please see the photos. Yamuna ghat is best place in Delhi for experiencing sunrise Heaven for photographers because you can see migrated birds in huge amount their is boat service is also available You can make reels, click good quality pictures

I suggest you to visit this place early morning like around 5:00am before sunrise, it is too good and peaceful. You can come here anytime anyday just sit back and relax. Boating and food options are also available here. overall a nice place to visit go ahead and visit this amazing peaceful place.

Very Very dirty place. People through garbage, polythene, cloths in the river.
