One of the beautiful fort and rock hill having gold old history of being construcyed and ruled by kalyani and badami chalukyas, yadavas, adil shah and nizams; but this beautiful fort is being neglected by government. Fort still has some ruined structures like gopuras, rooms, storage units, 2 temples, jain sculptures, water storage places, wells and ponds, connons, and more. One can feel the whole system of the fort if observed with interest. It is also place for people who loves trekking, sunsrise, and sunset. Total trekking hour will be maximum of 3 hours (both up and down with rest). Level is medium. Top view was always been a therapy; Sun rays falls upon the river bhima which flows just 3 to 4km away from the fort and shines amazingly in colors with reflecting the sun rays. Also, we can witness bird view of whole yadgir town. i.e., to the north eastern side, there is a lake; to north, there lies the old yadgir city; to south, extended city and lumbini lake; to west, river bhima flows. One can definitely go for fort visit when in yadgir.
I love yadgir fort , the Yadgir Fort is one of the largest hill forts in Karnataka which offers a commanding view of the surrounding plains. It is believed to be originally built by Kalyana Chalukyas and later strengthened by Yadava rulers and expanded under Muslim rulers. In terms of size and strength, Yadagiri Fort can be compared to other hill forts like Chitradurga and Ballari as these forts are built over rocky hills and have multiple levels.,Yadgiri fort is one of the largest forts of Karnataka. The fort is built over a massive monolith measuring about 850m long, 500m wide and 100m high. Yadgiri was known as Yetagiri. It was ruled by the Kalyana Chalukyas, Yadavas, Cholas, Bahmani Sultans, Adil Shahis and the Nizams. According to sources, five inscriptions of various time periods have been found in this fort. As per the inscription situated close to the fort entrance, Yadgiri fort was built by a person named Jagannath from Sagar a village in Shahpur taluq. This fort was originally built by Kalyana Chalukyas. Later It was strengthened by Yadava rulers and expanded under Muslim rulers. In terms of size and strength, Yadgiri fort can be compared to Madhugiri, Chitradurga, Bellary, and Shahpur forts. All these forts are built over rocky hills and have multiple levels.
Big Fort. On the Top, view of yaadgiri is super . There is Devi temple on left side of Fort.. Go with Full gang of friends (not 1 or 2). Take plenty of water and Glucose packet.. You gone need that. But Fort is not well maintained thats the main problem.
Fortunate to visit just after Monsoons...Green patches...viet of Bhima river and unexplored trails makes a perfect short hike. There are 2 operating temples on top.
When I Travel From Mumbai To Karnataka Via Train As Soon As I See Yadgir Fort Through The Window I Make Myself Ready To Get Off The Train. That's Always An Indication For Me I'm Close To Yadgir Station. I Unfortunately Visited Yadgir Fort In The Month Of May When Sun Is Just Above The Head. The Fort Is Very Mysterious & Have Old History About It (Because On The Walls Or On The Rocks Of The Fort Something Was Written Diagrammatically I Couldn't Recognise What It Was). The Fort Has Temples, Wells, Ponds Still Water In It. The Wells Have Been Created In The Form Of Ladder From All 4 Sides. (Watching That I Thought Maybe In Those Days Emperors or Empress Would Use For Bathing or Swimming, Just Guessings). At The Top Most Part Of The Fort A Heavy Cannon Is Seen. I Would Prefer You'll To Visit After Monsoon Season Or Else In Winters.
Nice historical place to visit good for trekking and explore the new views in yadgir fort top view point is most beautiful part of the fort can visit with friends and family in weekends.
Yadgir fort Yadgir Fort is one of the largest hill forts in Karnataka which offers a commanding view of the surrounding plains. The fort was built by the Kalyana Chalukyas. Later, it was strengthened by the Yadava rulers. The fort was further expanded during the time of the Bahmani, Adil Shahis and Nizams. The fort is comparatively well maintained, and we can see many structures like temples, mosque, canons, flag bastions, wells and canals, as well as underground structures.
