Woodpecker - Bar in Lucknow - Lucknow, India

One of the most awesome bar I have ever been to. A complete package. You have it all, live music, DJ, tasty food, mocktails, open area and what not. Food was surprisingly good! Alcohol is at a very affordable rate and all the drinks taste quite excellent. Although DJ floor is a little cramped up. It's jam packed almost everyday so I suggest you better have a reservation here. A must visit place.

So this happened: The bouncer lets me in, I order a drink, & soon 3 men from their staff accost me demanding an arbitrary cover charge that I was NOT informed of while entering. They blamed ME for this mistake as well. What's more? I fair-square ordered a drink at the bar but was accused of trying to gatecrash their boss' private party. After rechecking with them if the bar is open to regular people and clarifying that I am a paying customer & not a gatecrasher (I have the bills), I ordered another drink while I waited for a friend to pick me up. To my shock, 2 of their staff members approached and flatly instructed me to 'finish' my second drink quickly and 'check out'. It gets better... After this, another guy came up to me demanding I pay for a bottle of 'mineral water' that I neither asked for nor opened (I was offered an unsealed, partially-empty water bottle to top up my glass). Interesting way to treat a tourist and a customer on their very first night in your city, Woodpecker Lucknow! I think you mistook hospitality for hostility.

The last time we visited this place, we had a great experience. The staff was attentive, the services were excellent, and the food quality was top-notch. However, this time, my experience was quite the opposite. To begin with, they seemed oblivious to our arrival; it took a frustrating 20-minute wait just to get the menu. Eventually, I had to get up and ask for it myself. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing and barely edible. To add to the disappointment, when it came time to settle the bill, the waiter asked for a service charge. Additionally, we were comfortably seated on the sofa, but they insisted we move to chairs, despite the place not being crowded. It was quite uncomfortable, and it seemed they were more concerned with keeping their sofas vacant than ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I have no intention of returning to this establishment."

Last time when I came the service was still decent but this the the waiter literally stood there for his tip and said please pay it me on my personal upi. That was disgusting. Please keep a decent staff or you will keep loosing your visitors.

When we entered at around 10 pm, the atmosphere was really electric. The DJ was playing some really good songs. We were all set to dance as the DJ was playing some fine tracks. That's when the whole atmosphere was hijacked by a band and started playing songs. I'm not saying that they were bad, but for them to be playing at a club at 11pm, they weren't that good. We waited patiently for them to finish so that DJ could be resumed, but after waiting for 1.5 hours we were frustrated and left the place.

Service is a little slow and sloppy, which they should action upon for better customer experience. Also they are very stubborn about loud music, you can't even hear yourself speak while speaking to someone else. So that's a bummer! Overall though, they have great drinks and okayish food.
