WOOD Fossil Park, Dholavira - Featured Reviews (405)
I had the privilege of visiting this ancient and serene place housing wood fossils from thousands of years ago This place is a hidden gem, steeped in history and tranquility. The wood fossils, though few, are a testament to the passage of time and the secrets held within nature's embrace. For peace and nature lovers, it's a haven. The serenity envelopes you as you explore the remnants of ancient wood. The connection to the past is palpable, making it a truly unique experience. What's more, this spot offers a breathtaking view of the Rann of Kutch, the mesmerizing white sand salt desert. It's not just a place to admire fossils; it's a gateway to a surreal natural wonder. Access can be somewhat challenging, as development for tourism was still underway in 2022. But with the help of friendly locals, finding your way here is worth the effort. The best part? As of 2022, there are no entrance fees, and parking is freely available. However, remember to carry your own food and water, as amenities may be limited. In essence, this place is a journey through time and nature's beauty. A visit here promises a unique blend of history, tranquility, and a glimpse into the wonders of the Rann of Kutch. Don't miss the chance to connect with both the ancient past and the untouched present.
One should definitely visit this unexplored place, who love driving must drive through can have enjoyment of off road driving also.
a very ancient and serene place that houses wood fossil since thousands of years ago. Few Wood fossils remaining to be seen, but its a beautiful and quite place for peace and nature lovers. One can also see the rann of kutch (white sand salt desert) from here. It can also be approached from here. somewhat difficult to approach as the place isn't still (2022) developed but developing from tourism point of view and with a little help from locals you can surely get there. no tickets yet (2022) and Parking was available freely! Carry food and water!
It can be developed into a world class tourist facility. The approach road/way is very bad. May be some Industrial house can come forward for this.
Absolutely free to visit place. Camping area available (2). Very clean place. Less crowded place. Historical place. For fossil there's not dinosaur fossil, there's the time of dinosaurs stones available. No parking charges. Amazing camp area available with amazing flamingos views. No Shops for eating/drinking available here or within the area. Hidden tourist attraction. Definately Suggested to visit.
A must visit place for history enthusiasts!! You get to see......wood Fossil.....Fish fossils.....sea shell and volcanic rocks .... that's been there for millions of years! Overall......It's a very beautiful and scenic place!!
Nice place with amazing views of the Rann of Kutch lake. The road is partly unpaved and it's hard to drive when someone drives in from the opposite side. There's enough parking and they have created steps and pathways all through the park. The fossils themselves are not spectacular but are something unique and interesting. It takes 30-60 minutes to walk down and up the whole place.
Wonderful place with no entry fee. There were no staff, parts of the place was vandalized. Next to the water body, one can find these fossils and dwell in. I could spend a whole week at the place. There are designated camping areas. You will huge groups of birds.
