WOKE - HSR, Bangalore - Backpacker Hostel in Bengaluru - Bengaluru Urban, India

I stayed overnight at Woke HSR layout Bangalore and everything was as mentioned in the listing. I stayed in the private room on first floor, which was fine sans ventilation. The room freshner and toilet freshner were overpowering and that was not nice. Friendly Assamese caretakers and other guests were interactive as in other hostels.

Overall Had a good Experience and Stay there. Feels like Living in a home . One star cut because of Bad connectivity. Wifi will only get good speed near reception. Except this all is

Woke has become my fav hostel. The location is great with easy access to restaurants and offices. The hostel is well maintained, and the staffs are courteous. Will visit again!

One of the best hostels in HSR Layout. Great atmosphere, located near the main road. Good room service and a common kitchen are available. Friendly staff, safe hostel. Peaceful atmosphere.

Internet and wifi don't work inside the room. Overall staying here is not worthy if we compare it to the price.

This hotel didn't give me bills when I asked for it. The owner and managers don't stay in the hotel so the staffs keep people in less money for their owne benefits and take money from them. This is completely a bachelor's hotel and never a family place for even a single night. If you're planning to spend time here with your family DON'T do it. If you're a bachelor maybe you can stay 1-2 nights if you're not getting any other options at all. My experience have been very bad from unfairly high prices for extremely small rooms. Not giving me bills for payment meaning that there is no proof that anyone stayed in the hotel. No food. Mosquitoes. Party whole night with loud music, drinks and bachelor's shouting loud.

Rooms are good, bunk beds are good, bathrooms are big, but what makes me give a 1 star is the very bad smell coming out of the drainage holes in all bathrooms and that leaks into the rooms. For very large bathrooms they have fitted really small and weak exhaust and possibly not done correct work in the drainage. They simply nedd to install one way traps in their drainage system so gasses don't come out and exit out through a vent. Solving this one issue will make this place really worth it.

I don't know where to begin with how dirty this place is. As soon as you enter you will meet few folks smoking up and drinking all the time, no matter at what time of the day you enter the premises. Well, I don't mind people having fun so it never bothered me but I will come to this later why I am mentioning this here. As you will move inside you will find few folks working on the dining table with the kitchen on the right which is as clean as a public restroom. Since, I had no business in Kitchen I ignored how bad it stinks and moved to the 6 dormitory girls room but was repelled by the smell and how dirty the room was. Picture this- a t-shirt lying on the floor in dirt, chappals lying everywhere, and when you move towards the washroom, there is a dressing area. I have lived in 200-100 Rs hostel so I again ignored all of this thinking I just have to spend nights here since I was on a work trip and would mostly be working from the office. I booked the hostel for a week but left early. I am a person who doesn't like wasting my hard-earned money but the experience was so bad that I didn't even ask for a refund and left. I still couldn't take that bad smell of bathroom out of my head. The washroom had no window and was so unclean that even the water jet for the toilet seat had sticking on it. The toilet seat had stains all over which I still don't understand how a girls washroom can have. I can't describe how bad this hostel is. This is certainly the worst experience I've ever had in a hostel even though I have traveled solo for so many years living in even Rs dormitories. My boyfriend traveled to Bangalore few months back and booked this hostel, he left the same day seeing the condition of the hostel but I ignored his advice thinking I have been a solo traveler. But, this hostel is really bad. You can't cook in the kitchen, it was stinking from everywhere, no glasses, no clean plates, even the water purifier is above a wash basin which dirty. The property is so great, and the location is so great (1 km from my office) at the heart of HSR and surrounded by trees and beautiful houses which is why I even tolerated this place for 4 days. Would never recommend this to anybody. NO HYGIENE!
