This is built in the memory of The Bobbili-Vizianagaram battle of January 24, 1757 was a notable event as both warring sides paid a heavy price. As a consequence of this battle, the original Bobbili Fort and the whole town was almost wiped out. Bobbili is associated with the historic battle fought against the Zamindary Vizianagaram and the French. The Raja of Bobbili erected a war memorial at the place where the actual battle took place to commemorate this tragic event and the memorial can still be seen towards north-east on the out-skirts of the town. It was constructed with dressed Kondalite Surmounted Kalasa at the top during 1891 A.D. by Raja Ranga Rao.
