Vistara Beachside Cottage - Cottage in Udupi - Udupi, India

I had an absolutely horrendous experience at this place. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was in working order. The fridge, AC, and fans were all kaput. Windows from the hall were missing, washrooms were beyond filthy, and the rooms themselves were cramped and dismal. We were sold on the idea of staying in a 2BHK property with what they claimed were river-facing rooms. But let me tell you, there was nothing even remotely "river view" about it. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to charge us a whopping 10k for a single night in this abysmal accommodation. I implore anyone even remotely considering visiting Udupi to steer clear of this place. It's a rip-off and a surefire way to ruin your trip.

It's a Pathetic Place, Please don't book by the looks, Its a Horeible and terrific place , Rooms are small and its saffocation

The property is not worth the money you pay. We stayed there for 2 days and booked 2 cottages with total cost of 20k. It's too much as they don't even include food. Only breakfast is included that too is brought from a cheap restaurant. The cottages were not maintained well and were not having properly working fans. The best part are the beaches around. They are clean and less crowded.

Its extremely over-priced (shouldnt be more than 1.5k) given that there are no facilities. No ceiling fan (only stand fan), no ac, tv, tea/coffee maker, no lock on doors (you cant lock doors at night and sleep), no restaurant (only need to order through zomato and you will get only one option given that its in a very remote location), no proper toilet seat. You can hear if someone whisper in your next room. The towels are very smelly. And given its in front of backwater, its difficult to survive the stinking smell of fish all the time. Most importantly, it extremely unhygienic and full of insects and ants, its very disturbing to see so many centipedes crawling on your room. The condition of cottages are pathetic and feels like it may fall on you anytime. Please read google reviews, the owner claimed in one of the reviews that they renovated all the cottages 2 months back, but its not true. I was a fool not to read the reviews in google before booking. However, the location cant be any better...it was too good, the cottages are facing the backwater and behind is the sea. The staff were amazing and very friendly. They were very kind enough to provide hot water whenever I needed for my coffee. After I complained about my room, they shifted me to a different cottage which is slightly distanced from the other 2 cottages. This place can be a much much better place and I would like to visit again if it improves.

Location is perfect for someone who loves water. On one side is backwaters and on the other side across the road are beaches. The cottages are long pending for renovation as there are free accompaniment to your stay - insects, spiders, lizards etc. The hospitality is ok ok. I was traveling with kids and till 9:30 am there was no breakfast, nothing. Excuse being it was raining. It didn't rain too much. Had it rained heavily, probably there wouldn't have been a breakfast but a lunch. Even for water bottles, had to call multiple times, but needless to say care takers are good and extremely polite. So if you are an early morning person, dont forget to arrange some morning snacks for yourself. There's no electric kettle, etc. Only a pedestal fan provided. No door locks either, even when requested in advance. I had originally planned for staying 3 days but according to reviews i was reading I was tensed as I was traveling alone with kids, and requested them to accomodate my change in plans to have the stay limited to just one night, almost 2 weeks in advance. They were kind enough to accommodate my change of plans. They are planning to renovate the cottages, and i would love to visit the place again post renovation.

The stay at vistara was not worth as it had no food and the facilities were not good...the view from the room was great...however did not like the stay as the rooms were not good no safety as the rooms had no locks...alot of insects inside the room. We were accompanied by rats,worms and insects during our stay!
