It was beautiful then the other konkan forts i visited so far. There were group of youngsters who were decorating the fort for deepotsav. There is also a beautiful view of the sea from the fort.
Nice Fort. Although not in good condition but better than other forts. Needs more maintenance. Entry Fee 5 per person. Can cover entire fort in 45 mins. Can opt for Boat Ride to view exterior fort for Rs 100 per person.
Vijaydurga Fort is rich in history and has most of the structure intact and must be visited with a guide. You must have a good amount of time to witness the history.
Kille Vijaydurga ! One of the most Magnificent Fort experiences! This fort is really a must go, if you love historical monuments. The small small details, which are still intact, is mesmerising to look at. Also the ocean view from up above is stunning. We went during Early monsoon in the month of June. Make sure you carry water because it takes a couple of hours to explore this wonderful place properly.
You have to visit this beautiful jldurg- vijydurg. You can make whole round walk around the fort by walking sideways of tttbNdhii. Fort is also in good bhkkm structure.
The fort is really good , Has a lot many tales to tell . BUT IT IS IN WRONG HANDS .. Unlike the forts of Rajasthan and MP , it is poorly maintained and has 0 entry charges .. Making it easily prone to abuse . I felt very bad seeing the unmaintained coloumns and broken structures by roots . Since it is a high rainfall zone , it needs more care .. Maharashtra tourism's attitude is disheartening. 40 rs are being extorted by local panchayat in the name of parking but not a single rupee for the fort . It offers spectacular view of the western coast and arabian sea . There is the first place where Helium decay rays were discovered , many sound propogating building design and a lot of technicalities . The Guides available donot seem to have much knoledge and work as photographers instead . There is a Hanuman temple which has a dargah like top as a tactical decoy to prevent invading forces from Arab and Iberian peninsula (dutch &portuguese) to destroy ... Its phenominal but the irony is whether to appriciate the minds of those thought that way or to feel ashamed about what our own cultures were subjected to on our own lands . It has a totally different vibe in monsoons .. 60 to 90 minute drive from Talere square . Has regular Busea from Ratnagiri and Kankavli .. And also one each from Panaji and Mumbai .
Splendid Fort! Most of the structures are intact. Best to visit in Winter and Monsoon, summers will tire you. At least 1.5-2 hours required for guided tour. Rs.400 is the latest guide fees. Worth to visit for its nature and buildings.
A history forgotten waiting to be recognised by our government. So many political parties have a war cry on Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. But not even one leader has tried to do any thing about this monuments. Just look at Karanataka not far away & you will understand how to preserve a history. I feel ashamed myself seeing such a history getting whipped away.
