Beautiful archway. Couldn't understand the statue, a woman with sword and a man lying at her feet. The plaque says that it is St. Catherine but it doesn't explain about the bearded man at her feet. Please tell me if someone knows. Thank you.
Place is closed for renovation.
This place is a very beautiful tourist attraction. The serene view of this place itself attracts a lot of tourists and this place really lives up to all the expectations.
But since the place is closed right now, not much to see inside here. The exterior is very beautiful, has good shades and nice big trees, good benches to sit around. The place was very breezy and cool when we went to a relief from the crowd and heat at the Old Goa church which is very close to this place.
In the evening this place will look very nice and has good shades around.
Please wait for the renovation to visit this place.
Attended a cultural walk event there. It was fun. Lot of history to it and please join the cultural walk as I was from Hyderabad and knew anything about goa.

The Arch of Vasco Da Gama. This a historical monument which gives you feel of old goa. It is located at a scenic place and you can get some cool photos clicked here. Nearby is a ferry point from where you can get a ferry to the Divar Island. Ferries are free in Goa so you do not have to pay anything.
Built in 1599 by Vasco da Gama's grandson, Viceroy Francisco da Gama, this historic archway holds a significant place in the legacy of Old Goa, once the capital of Portuguese Goa. It is adorned with statues of Vasco Da Gama on one side and St. Catherine on the other. It once served as a primary entrance into the city. Outgoing viceroys would hand over the ceremonial keys to the city to their successors at this very spot. The new official would then pass through this archway.
After experiencing a collapse, the arch underwent restoration in 1954. It is located near the architecturally impressive St. Cajetan Church, making it an ideal stop for those exploring Goa's cultural heritage. Nearby is a ferry point leading to Divar Island.
The official place where the Portuguese set their foot, close to the famous churches of old Goa and closer to the ferry point pick up, holds history and is a must-visit if you want to know the real Goa!
