A great place for devotion and relaxation. Please take enough water and food if you want to travel here. Although there are shops here and there along the way, the prices are a bit high. (Because in the hilly areas they carry the materials up high. So their labor and the cost of the materials should be taken into consideration). Then it is better to have a walking stick for trekking. A walking stick will definitely come in handy when you're about to climb the Seven Hills. On an average the trek takes 6 to 7 hours. The amount of time varies depending on one's pace and rest. Elderly people, people with heart disease and weak heart, people with high blood pressure should avoid mountain climbing. Remember that you are coming to this mountain region at your own risk. When you come to this temple, you will definitely get an understanding for living life. Thanks

Velliangiri mountains are one of the most difficult trekking spots. "Women Between 10 to 50 age are Not allowed". Although you can Pray in the temple but aren't allowed to climb the mountain. Best time to trek- The trekking season is from February till May every year. About Trek- Located on the Western Ghats, the hills are a part of the famous Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the Velliangiri Hills are considered as the Kailash of the South. The hills are a popular pilgrimage spot as well. Dedicated to Swayambu, which is a form of Lord Shiva, the temple on Velliangiri Hills is a preferred meditation spot for sages, Siddhas, and siddhar. Legend has it that this is temple was where the Lord himself performed a cosmic dance which was requested by Uma Devi, his consort. Of all the festivals, Maha Shivratri is celebrated with much ardor and faith here. The lush hills are a trekker's paradise as they are located at an altitude of 2438 meters, so do carry your walking shoes when you make your way to this picturesque landscape.Velliangiri is famous for the seven hills trek. To complete the first hill it would take 30-45 mins if you trek nonstop, probably one of the hardest hills out of the seven. It will all be steps, steps, and steps. Once you reach the first hill, you would find shops where they sell a lot of eateries and drinks. You can spot similar shops now and then till 5th hill. The second and third hill will be of both steps and plains, comparatively easier than the first one. It would take another 45-60 mins to complete them. The fourth and fifth hill would be mostly plain and you would enjoy walking a bit after all the hard-fought trek climbing up thousands of steps. Will take another 45-60 mins.Yes! Finally, at the top of the hills, you can see god statues, caves, godman's, etc. You can get a blessing from them, donate if you like, sit down, relax, feel good, feel accomplished, feel better and then you can start your trip down the hills.

Such an amazing place. But for sure your legs might be in worse condition for 2-3 days after the trekking and climbing up is so easy than getting down. Challenge yourself, And go for it!. It is worth climbing seven mountains. Don't go there during the day . We started at 2.00a.m at midnight.

Visited the Velliangiri Hills (7 hills) during the month of March 2023. Friday Night and Saturday morning trek. Bamboo sticks (Rs.30) are a must to be taken for balance and support. Buy a leaner stick. Likewise water bottles. Plastics will be removed at the entrance, and a refundable Rs.50 will be charged to carry them. Four of them started with barefoot. Waiting time was more than 30 minutes at the entry point at 11 pm. This is my fourth visit, unprepared and little unwell. With my fellow companions hiked all the hills with doubts inside the mind. When good companions accompany throughout the hike, it becomes easier and less stressed to hike. Lots of water, loads of sweat. The advantage of the night hike is no heat. Reached the top at 6 am. More than 30 mins wait time was there. Had a good dharshan of the Suyambu lingams. Could not see the Sunrise as wished due to mist. Relaxed for some time. Descend becomes a little more difficult than hike. Wore socks to avoid sole pain/ scratches. As the day grows, more heat and tiredness will be there. Need more water. Water is not sold. You need to fill the empty bottles from the Sunai. Otherwise, you need to buy juice, buttermilk, watermelon, or lemon juice ( all double rates) to satisfy thirst. The sooner you get down, the less difficult. Came down at 2 pm. At the foothills, annadhanam ( sambar rice) was provided for all. In the end, there was a great sense of satisfaction and at the same time wondering how the trek was completed. Be well prepared to hike. Otherwise, don't. Can be hiked thoughout anyday anytime from mid Feb (newspaper notification will come) till early May. Visit on a weekday where the crowd will be there but manageable. Weekend will be difficult and will take a long time. A must annual visit for trekkers and Lord Siva devotees.

Testing the Patience, endurance and hope. 1st hill has steps carved out pf big stones ending with a vinayagar temple, 2nd, 3rd, 4th hills are bit easy to climb,5th,6th have plains, 7th would test you. there were plenty shops. Kindly avoid littering plastics

Excellent for trekking, It's very difficult to claim over the hills. which entails climbing seven hills, each of which provides a unique experience. We started around 8.15 p.m. from down. the steps, which are very irregular in shape and very steep and difficult to claim. We began at night, and it was quite easy to claim the mountain . Please bring adequate water, biscuits, glucose, or energy drinks. bring lighter luggage, torch lights, and waterproof jerkin. The steps will be really challenging, and you will need to rely heavily on your stick. We started at 8.15 p.m. and arrived at the first hill about 9.10 p.m. It took us one hour to get there. From the first hill, which began around 9.15 p.m., arrived at the second hill around 10.15 p.m. Starting at 10.30 p.m. on the second hill, it arrived about 11.20 p.m. on the third hill. The fourth hill reached about 12.50 a.m. from the third hill, which began around 11.30 p.m. We had some time to rest and unwind in between. Starting at 1 a.m. on the fourth hill, I arrived at the fifth hill about 2.10 a.m. Heavy rain was falling when we arrived at Six Hill. It was really chilly, and we had not brought any rain suits. The fifth hill, which started at 2.30 a.m., reached six hills around 3.20 a.m. It was completely hazy, I couldn't see anyone else, there were too many chills, and rain was drizzling, but it was a beautiful experience. We started from the sixth hill at 3.30 a.m. and arrived at the seventh hill around 4.45 a.m. Some emotions are inexpressible in words. It's a wonderful experience, especially after reaching the 7th hill, The 7th hill top, where Lord Shiva bestows Darshan and a beautiful sunrise, will be above the clouds, as we can see the clouds below us.

It's located near the isha center and 30kms from coimbatore. It gave us one of the best trekking experiences ever....it took 4 hrs to reach vellaingiri andavar and while returning it took 5 hrs of trekking.... Buying a stick is recommended because in 7th hill that would be extremely hard without the stick and while returning down the mountain without a stick that would get extremely hard to walk. I recommend climbing the hill at night and getting down from the hill within the morning because I got sun burn while getting down from the hill in the afternoon. There was an extremely huge rush of approx 3.5 lakh people visited on saturday and Sunday(avoid going on weekends) but there were enough shops to have a drinks break eventually in all mountains (except 7th mountain). The huge problem was there were no water facilities available. The shops there charged 20rs for water. Once reached at poondi temple there is 24 hrs annadanam facility by government and private people also offer. Please avoid taking plastics to uphill and they charge 20rs to plastic bottles and when we return they give back to 20rs (just to make people not to throw the plastic bottles). Overall this was the best experience and takes 2 days to recover your leg from pain
