The park is nice and well maintained, but the security guard or the staff of it aren't well respectful or mannered. And also the staff shouldn't say what one should do at what time. They just need to say what is allow And what is not. Thank you. Or else the place is nice to visit.

Veer Hutatma Bhai Kotwal Udyan, a prominent historical landmark of Dadar, is located in close proximity to Plaza Cinema, another equally famous landmark is an island park, at the westside foot of the Tilak Bridge. It was recently renovated (2011), having been witness to many upheavals over the years. Dadar West was a predominantly agricultural area till the early 20th century, with several wells, tanks & ponds. Many of the gardens and parks seen today in Dadar were sites of such water bodies. The Veer Hutatma Bhai Kotwal Udyan, too was one such tank (Hansali Tank), and an integral part of Dadar's landscape. Every morning, farmers brought fresh vegetable produce by train from the then far-off Salsette & Bassein regions. They washed their produce with water from the tank, before selling it to vendors. Even today, the tradition continues at almost the same location, and local vendors still buy as per their requirements from farmers and wholesale traders. The market starts at 5:00 A.M. & by 8:00 A.M., most of the produce is sold out. The tank, though no longer exists, being filled up as an aftermath of the 1920 plague epidemic in Mumbai. The p ark thus formed, was renamed 'Veer Kotwal Udyan' in the early 1940s, as a tribute to Advocate Vitthalrao Laxmanrao alias Bhai Kotwal who attained martyrdom at a very young age, while in armed combat with the British troops cavalry, on 2nd January, 1943, at Siddhagad Fort. His memorial, along with a very striking statue, is seen at the southern end of the garden. Just a few metres away, is a very old heritage drinking water fountain, with plaques both in Marathi and English. The inscription etched in Marble stone reads: "IN MEMORY OF MRS. INDIRABAI PANDURANG SAHASRABUDHE. DIED 6TH MAY 1930." Overall, the garden is very well maintained today, with some seating space and a lot of greenery, which is a welcome sight for tired souls who come to rest for some time.
