A historic place converted to dust bin. My heart sank on seeing the plight of this heritage monument. The built and design is all covered by waste thrown by local residents. It seems both local civic bodies and mehmadabad residents are least interested in maintaining this vav. If maintained well,a lot of tourists visit and employment can be generated. To top of all the image of mehmadabad will be highlighted which at present in a poor plight. Still visited this place with full head covered by cloth.A big board display the heritage value of this vav among garbage littered all around the vav. Deeply hurt to write this review and post the photos. Have your own trip.
Five stars for this vav. Zero stars for the Department of Archaeology, Govt of Gujarat who are supposed to be looking after this place. Zero stars also for the people in Mahendavad who use it as a garbage dump. Guys, this is a 500+ year old vav. So depressing to see how it's being treated. Pics attached. It's nice historicak place but in too bad condition. It's amazing but too risky. Because Vav structure is too much old and not repair by government.
Good place to visit.. Very crowded on Holidays and weekend.. the entray fees for Indian citizen is 25/- and for foreigners is 300/-
