Warugad (Ta. Phalatan, Dist. Satara) Type- Giridurg. Heights -919 m. from sea level. Nearest village- giravi Queue-Shambhu Mahadev. Way-Satara- Phaltan- Girvi. There is a train route from Phaltan to Girvi. Near the base of Warugad is Girvi village. A carriageway comes to the fort from the side of Dahiwadi village also via Palawan. There is a settlement in the fort. There is a temple on the fort. There are always devotees here, there is water, there is shelter. The fort has a fort and a ruined fortification. Tathwada fort is visible from here. One can visit the famous Sitamai pass from Palawan village.

Simple fort to trek. Beautiful landscape view. Ample place for parking. There is a temple at the base where parking is available. 20 mins are sufficient to ascend. 20 minutes are enough to explore the fort. The top is smaller in size. Wind speed is always high on the top. It is very windy weather. May be that's why it is named as Varu means windy or horse. Carry food and water with you.

Varugad fort is located in Phaltan taluka Dist: Satara. One of the few forts in Phaltan. The nearest grampanchayat is Girvi. Good place to trek as a solo or group. It takes around 45 mins to reach the top of the fort. A couple of temples on the way. Once reached the top, the entire view is mesmerizing. Huge windmills visible. Keep your food and water bottle along. Since you don't get food or water over there.

Small fort, it is good trek for kids. Few steps but slippery, sandy Rocky way to climb the fort. There are two ways:- From mograle- the road opens directly at the temple of bhairavnath. Few steps and small Rocky way to climb. But you can see multiple windmills all around the road and if interested, you can reach them with small trek. From girvi:- it is exhausting trek. Go early morning to climb by this way. On varugad, there is not much to see but the wind is so powerful, which gives you really amazing experience.

Varugad is a small fort in Satara district near Phaltan. If you are taking car, you can directly reach the machi of the fort. While there is a well marked trail from Jadhavwadi at the northern end of the fort. It takes around a hour to reach the fort. Once you reach by car, park your car/bike near a big banyan tree beside Bhairav mandir. The Bhairav mandir premise is kept kept clean by the villager staying on the machi. The place is serene. Great place to relax. Just keep walking straight from the temple to reach the cement steps. After about 5-7 mins you will reach the Mahadarwaja of the ballekilla. There is a massive rock cut taki and a small temple in the ballekilla. Villagers have recently renovated the ballekilla. You can walk all along the fort (ballekilla) hill. After walking down the fort from the same cement steps, just follow a big trail on the left. After walking on the trail for a min you reach Phaltan darwaja. Fort machi has a big Khamb taki (Pillar water tank) and Small khandoba temple on the edge. There is massive water tank near the trail. There are series of ruins fortification wall all along the fort machi. It will take around an hour to explore the fort
