I earnestly feel they, the whole medical staff there, must work a little on their behavior, before anything else.
If they happen to have any sort of issue with you, just in case, they will keep it inside (which you would never know!) till the operation day and then show all the anger, indignation - basically their real faces, finally on the main day inside the operation theatre.
Now that you are lying helpless on the bed, they will show the level of despise they have developed for you in the meantime. They could even stoop to the level that they call your body's natural reflex action over feeling the pain, your AUDACITY. If you are screaming in pain, sorry! but you're not behaving well
And they can even order you to just leave the theatre right away over the charges of not behaving well as if you could do that at such point of time.
I feel this to be even ethically wrong as any aspect of your 'terms and conditions' should be disclosed & discussed with the patient earliest of all other things.
Being doctor or one from medicine field, they must have been taught to be a little insensitive so that they can help the patients without being over-emotional but, but but they may have forgotten that the real foundation of this profession is actually EMPATHY.
