This place looks amazing to visit with friends and family, the sculptures , the pillars , the rocks ,the mountains stands tall and it's a wholesome place to click more snaps off. One must get an entry ticket of Rs. 40 in the entrance itself and then u could come in to explore all first u might be seeing the Krishna's butter ball, then these caves and as u walk through u would find various rocks and trees surrounded by. One must be willing to walk to explore this place completely and I would recommend people to visit this on weekdays and not on weekends also note that it would be great if ur planning to come here at ur early mornings than during noon, as it would be hot and the climate these are no wonder even a normal day is too hot here in Chennai and it's surroundings. To add upon u could find people selling water bottles, buttermilks, cucumber and mango at every stone's throw during our visit. Personally I bought a tender coconut that was available inside the visiting place itself but it was too small and costed Rs.40 can't bargain as it was too hot and was desparate of some liquid to quench my thirst in a healthy way.

Cave sclpture depicts lord Varaha with Bhoo devi on one side . Bhoo devi being saved from the demon on the other. On the right-hand panel, one can see Lord Vishnu on an eight-armed giant form(called Trivikarma) in the act of killing the demon Mahabali. Gajalakshmi sitting on a lotus the goddess of prosperity and standing Durga on a lotus with four arms surrounded by her ganas. Stylistically and typological assigned to the period Pallava king Nasasimhavarman. This rock-cut cave temple is the most complete of its kind. On plan, the temple has an arcade hall with a shrine cut into the back wall. The shrine is projecting into the hall. The facade is marked by a moulded base, a stepped entrance with balustrade and a pair of pillars with vyala-base, typical of Narasimhavarman style. The crowd will be more on weekends and holidays (best to visit on weekdays as it will be less crowded). Mahabalipuram bus stand is very nearby. Private paid parking is there near to the bus stand. Fee: 40 rupees per head (entry is free for below 15 years). This ticket you can use for all monuments in Mahabalipuram. For Ganesh Ratha you can use the same ticket that you purchased for the Shore temple counter and vice versa. Preferred Timing: Morning or after 3pm (the site will be very hot in noon time and also it will be closed on 6 pm) Nearby Attractions (all these places are nearby and can be covered by walk itself): Krishna Mandapam, Descent of Ganges, Krishna's Butter Ball, Ganesha Ratha, Raya Gopuram, Light house (fee Rs 10), Pancha Rathas, Shore temple and the beach. The Varaha Cave Temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu in his Varaha avatar, or boar incarnation. It is believed to have been constructed during the late 7th century AD under the reign of Pallava king Narasimhavarman I.

You can plan your visit early in the morning, comparatively it will be less crowded at that time and you have to pay 40 rs if you are indian and 600 if you are a foreigner. Thats a bug parity though. But its worth the visit to see the remaining of the Indian history
