The food is authentic and very tasty, the service, behaviour of the staff is praiseworthy One must book the lunch well in advance , a must have for Shantiniketan tourists. Their handicraft showroom is also one of the main attractions.. things you can have at reasonable prices.

We go there to collect our bi- annual stock of Ghee and the Pickles - must if you are anywhere near the place. A wonderful place located at a serene place the food is legendary here. Tasty yet very simple. Loved the well behaved staff and the vibes that were offered in this place. Service was prompt and place was clean and nice. Don't miss to visit the place if you are in Shantiniketan. Intend to come here again.

Very oily food and they call it farm fresh. Over priced a bit... Daal , chutney was too good.

I was disappointed with my last visit to Vanalakhsmi yesterday. I had pre-booked a lunch in advance for 6 people. To summarize, apart from the set menu of a Veg Thali (which i assume is now same across all the Bong joints in Santiniketan, and does not make Vanalakhsmi stand apart from the rest) i had in my order Padba and Mutton. The Pabda was not fresh, which was very apt to identify for a fish lover like me. The mutton was set in a curry which had the stink of fried onions. Clearly my last lunch in Santiniketan was a moment of dismay for the family. Clearly, they should now shred off the snobbishness of pre-booking meals in advance and rather concentrate on quality.

A delightful experience.....Delicious food & courteous staff.....Food needs to be pre booked one day prior.....a must visit on a trip to Shantiniketan.

Very calm and quiet place. Good quality ornaments, garments and some delicious food items like ghee, squash, spices, pickles are available here. Usually travellers came here to take away items or enjoy delicious dishes. Though a few families can also enjoy staying in a calm environment, as lodging is also available. The place is a bit remote and costly.

We went there with lot of expectations all the way from Bangalore on 07-01-2023. Severely let down. Food is below average. Service is Awful. Behaviour of the gentleman answering the calls while booking is so far removed from the reality that it is senseless. EXTREMELY OVER HYPED. Better food is available in Bolpur itself.

All the sweet pickles taste the same. Gokul pithe and dudh puli are NO BUYS. Among sweets, only patishapta is good. The lady who sits in the front desk - half of the time has no idea what is in stock and what is out of stock. We wanted to purchase "radhuni pagol" rice and she and one more girl first said "it is out of stock" and while taking a look around the shop, we spotted the rice right in front, two shelves behind the front lady. When pointed out, the lady was rude and unapologetic. I guess that is how dumb people cope. The lunch services are below average. It is TOO OILY, the recipes are not authentic. Overall a no-go and an overhyped place.
