Vaigai Dam - Tourist attraction in Melmangalam - Theni, India

Build across the Vaigai river the vaigai dam and is fully a concrete dam ( not build in between two mountains). * It is nice to come here and see when the shutters of the dam are opened and the water is flowing. * A small park is inside the compound but it really needs some maintenance and renovations. Some toys are unable to use. * Enough Parking area available, 20Rs for four wheelers.

It's such an amazing water reservoir and a very long one too. It's one of main attractions for tourists. There's a park around the dam for kids. There was a steps that takes us to the top of the dam. We can get the spectacular views from there. During sunsets the views are fantastic. Best park for kids and families to spend time with.

We wanted to have fun during the weekend! So we visited the dam ! It was nice and peaceful despite being crowded. The scenary was really worth the travel! Had fun eating some fruits and ice cream as well! Its almost 10 yrs since I visited the dam, was great to visit after a long time.

Best tourist place in that area.8kms from andipatti. U can get either bus or auto. Auto ll charge around 150to 200rs. Town bus are available only for timings.

Decent place to visit. Rainy day so no crowd at all. Can capture nice pictures. Recommend to climb up the dam and also walk along. Difficult climb for 50+ aged people. Kids will enjoy the climb and views. Garden is just basic, needs renovation.

A great place to hangout in theni district. Cleanliness and bit of modernisation could make this place a good tourist destination.

Vaigai Dam is situated about 68 Kms from Madurai City. It is built across the river Vaigai. View from the top of the dam is awesome. Top of the dam can be reached by climbing about 100 steps. The water reservoir is huge with mountains in the background. You can sit and keep watching this serene expanse of water for however long you want. There is also a park and walking area where you can spent some good time with family and friends. Train rides are must in evenings for kids !! Huge parking space available, place is neatly maintained. Beautiful place to spend with family and kids for Madurai people
