Hidden Nature gem Not too far from Kumbakonam. The drive from kumbakonam is very scenic. Preserves an ancient irrigation canal/tank in a unique manmade wetland Pros: Beautiful lake and park. Habitat for waterbirds, kites, eagles - very calm and serene place Great to visit in early November. Saw Ibis, anhinga, herons, egret, kite, terns, swift, kingfisher, oriole, songbirds, chipmunks Entry for birders with cameras is 60r, less if you don't have a camera. Facilities are neat. There's even a bathroom / guest house inside the park Park employee is not very knowledgeable about birds but very nice and kind. Early morning there is not too many guests at all. I was often the only person within eyeshot. Cons: No parking for vehicles inside the parks The sidewalk around the lake is under construction. Have to cross through thick mud to reach the Bird Blind. Because there's no sidewalk it's hard to reach most areas without hiking boots The bird blind at the end of the trail is not well maintained and is dangerous. Great view but watch your step. Eco shop cafe and second viewpoint are not inside the park Minimal insects / no snakes in November

Wonderfull, peaceful place Neet and clean place This sanctuary build in one side of the vaduvoor lake they placed the footpath and seating aranged here At the back side of the lake they build the watch tower it's distance around .750 km from the enter of the sanctuary Here they provide binocular to watch the birds it's wonderful Also kids park available. wonderful palace for visiting with kids in your holiday time Friendly officer, they guide the photographer for when and where the birds and what time you will get the pleasent photo of it Entery fee for adult 10 for bike parking 20 rupees Car parking not available inside the sanctuary you need to place it out side of it only Bycycle also available for riding inside of the sanctuary Toilet, drinking water also available.

One of the tranquil and pleasant Sanctuary I have ever visited. At a max there will be less than 10 visitors in the entire sanctuary. It contains primarily a lake. In the entire stretch of the lake, there is a pathway for us to walk. Within less than a minute, we will feel like we were inside some forest. Lot of Squirrels, Parrots and other birds are there. Once we go midway of the path, we can see the birds flocking together on the lake. At the end there is a WATCH TOWER. Please ask for a BINOCULAR in the front office. Once we get on to the Watch Tower, we can find an amount of Birds through the Binocular. Don't expect much. It's a small Sanctuary situated next to a lake. Normal visitors can spend an hour max here. There are no canteen or food court inside. Ticket : Rs 10 per head, Two wheeler 20Rs

*Vaduvoor Bird Sanctuary is a 128.10-hectare area located in Vaduvoor lake, Mannargudi Taluk, Thiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, India. The sanctuary is about 25 kilometers from Thanjavur and 14 kilometers from Mannargudi on the Thanjavur-Kodiakkarai State Highway 63. It was created in the year 1999. *The irrigation tank receives water from November to April every year which attracts a numerous foreign birds from Europe and America. The sanctuary attracts more than 40 species of water birds like the woite ibis, painted stork, grey pelican, pintails, cormorants, teals, herons, spoonbills, darters, coots, Open bill storks, and pheasant-tailed jacana. * The sanctuary is a favorite spot for the migratory birds and during the months of November and December more than 20000 winged visitors reach this area. The sanctuary has basic facilities for tourists to stay overnight and enjoy watching the birds from the two watch towers.

Nice place to spend time with family members. It located centre in between tanjavur to mannarkudi. Thiruvarur district. Opening time all days morning 9 to evening 5.30 pm.all over world birds coming in may month of every year.all types of birds in world availble there.

Nice place to go for a walk. Just 10Rs they charged as a entry ticket. Evening is the best time to visit. Cycles also available to explore. There is one watch tower was there. They provide binocular for free of cost to watch birds (we have to use infront of them. Should not allowed to keep it with us untill come back)

A peaceful place to relate ourself with nature.... woth seasonal birds spending their life here .... the lake is clean and a pleasant watch with the birds retreating in their habitat...Now lot of migratory birds can be seen perching around the small islands of trees in the lake... more than ever.

It's a beautiful place to visit migration birds.. August to January is the best time to visit this place.. If you have DSLR camera.. They will charges depends on your camera..
