Uttar Dakshin by Naivedhyam - Indian restaurant in Nagpur - Nagpur, India

It's been a while since Nagpur got a near perfect taste of South Indian cuisine. Uttar Dakshin is one such place. The preparations take you back to the good old days when the taste used to linger for long and formed memories. The signature masala dosa and uttapam easily compete with the taste of legendary Coffee House. Thus, the dakshin part gets highlighted more than the Uttar. The place is amongst the few which encourages you to keep on exploring their menu.

Whenever we feel like having south indian food, Uttar Dakshin has been our go to place. It's a little busy after 8:30-8:45pm so you might have to wait a while before you get a table but the wait is well worth it. In our most recent visit we had Butter Masala Dosa, Mysore masala dosa, Chola Bhatura, Pineapple shira and Rasmalai. Everything was just as we expected, tasty. Portion size is big enough for an average person. The name might suggest that the place serves limited menu but the menu includes Chinese, Italian and other popular cuisines as well, so they have something for everyone. Staff is curious and the table service is really fast as well (depends on how full the restaurant is). There's plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant as well as in their basement as well.

One of the famous place for South Indian food in Nagpur city. I have been here a few times and tried some south indian dishes as well as chole bhature, North Indian Thali etc. The taste of all the food items was good (Chole bhature were just ok, so i would not recommend that). Rest if you are looking for some good place for South Indian, then you can try this place. They also have chinese, north indian main course, some maharashtrian dishes etc. in their menu. For desserts, they have gulabjamun, pineapple sheera, Rasmalai..I liked rasmalai and sheera. All in all, a good place for variety of food options. The place is mainly famous among families. P.S- Make sure to go there before time as it is very crowded during peak dinner timings and it will be difficult to get a seat at that time.

Food was tasting good enough. Sambar could have been tastier. I did not like the presentation of Thatte Idli. I was expecting 3 chutneys with it but they didn't gave that. I understand that this place is always full and crowded in the weekends and also on weekdays but still the kitchen team should pay attention to plating. Service was good and on time. Food Rates/Pricing are quite high for variety Dosa and a few other menu items.

Very unhealthy and unhygienic environment please look in videos which I uploaded after found insects in plate no one bothered to just change that dish we paid the bill and left hotel. Very very disappointed by their food quality, service and way to handle situation like this

Nestled on Pratap Nagar Road, Uttar Dakshin is a delightful South Indian restaurant that has become one of my favourite spots to indulge in a variety of dosa options. Sometimes it's not just about the food, but also about the experience. You could discover Dosa with the same taste and for less money at roadside food vendors. Ever since a friend recommended their Karam Podi Masala Dosa, it has held a special place in my heart, and each visit to this establishment has been a pleasurable experience. The crispy dosa is generously filled with a flavourful and aromatic masala, complemented by the perfect balance of spices. The Karam Podi adds an additional layer of complexity and a slight kick of heat, elevating the taste to new heights. However, during my most recent visit, I encountered a slight disappointment with the mango lassi. When I tasted it, I detected an odd or stale flavor. Despite bringing this to the attention of the staff, they did not offer a replacement. It seems that the lassi is pre-made and stored in bottles, which could potentially have been in the fridge for extended periods. Considering this, I would advise avoiding the lassi altogether to ensure keep your taste and mood on track. On a positive note, all the other freshly made items at Uttar Dakshin are delectable and hard to resist. From the crispy dosas to the flavorful chutneys and sambar, the kitchen consistently delivers mouthwatering dishes that leave you craving for more.

Tatthe Idli and mysore masala dosa is a must try. Clean place. Filter coffee is not actually filter coffee. A bit pricey for breakfast but the taste is good. Place is mostly crowded so ambience is compromised and service can get slow if crowded.

After having visited the sadar outlet and having a good experience, we tried the pratap nagar outlet for dinner and went in for mostly south indian. Thatte idly, Kaali dosa and some fried rice and gulab jamun as well. All boxes ticked and great food. Service is good but they were overwhelmed at times and missed or confused our order twice nevertheless they were getting on top of things. Good place for a family meal
