Historical battlefield One of the battles that Shivaji Maharaj himself took part in was the Battle of Umberkhind. This battle was fought on February 3, 1661 between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Mughal Sardar Kartalab Khan and the female Sardar Rai Bagan. The Marathas defeated the Mughal army. The Mughal army consisted of 20,000 soldiers, while only 3,000 light Maratha cavalry. This battle is known for the strategic manner in which Shivaji Maharaj deployed his army and the swift movements achieved by his cavalry.
Very remote place... little offside from the main road. Good place... in the middle of the river.... not a very crowded place, so better to avoid bring girls / kids if not in group...

How to rate a historical place? You simply can't. I visited this place as part of my bike ride from Pune. Thoroughly loved the drive via the old Pune-Mumbai Highway. At the destination if there aren't any other people then it's so calm. You simply will love the nature around and thinking that hundreds of years ago there was a battle at that place. Just food for thought.
