Udupi Swagatha Gopura - Tourist attraction in Udupi - Udupi, India

Best place. I stood there as it was raining and did not have a raincoat. Spoke with police uncle about the Ghor kaliyug, and didn't know how time passed as I was looking at the vehicles passing by. Tourists must visit.

This is the Entrance gate also known as The Swagatha Gopura to Udupi. Its very big and attractive. It welcomes you tothe heart of Udupi. Udupi is well known for the 13th century Sreekrishna temple. Many pilgrims visit this temple. Also Udupi has got its name for the great vegetarian south Indian food. Udupi has many food items like dosa, vada, uthappam, etc. Not only veg, Udupi is also well known for its seafoods. Because it is very near to the western coastal side of India.

No tickets required. You can see this Gopura while entering the Udupi bypass.

This is the main entrance arch for Udupi city.Before the highway widening the entire structure was visible while passing by on the highway.Now after highway widening completion,one needs to take the service road that leads upto it.This place offer good views of highway and vehicles travelling towards ambalpadi and also towards udyavara.
