Tsunami Beach Park - Featured Reviews (211)
A good place to have a nice stroll in the evening, lot of parking space but it's not well maintained. There were trash here and there. Thankfully, there was a coffee shop facing the beach if you get tired you can sit and order some hot coffee since it's cooler there at night. It's good if you have your own vehicle coz it might be difficult to commute there.
However, with so many people coming here, more infrastructure should be provided.
Nice and clean park to spend time with kids and family. Recently they have placed one decommissioned war machine, which is attracting more people and they are curious about knowing the details of it. But I see many people are not following the rules and causing damage to it by holding and trying to climb and all which needs to be strictly controlled by the caretaker.
Strange name. But that is how this beautiful place is called. Especially strange because Tsunami never touched this shore.
Shanghumugham beach was the go to place the inhabitants of the town of Thiruvananthapuram from very old times. The royalty used to frequent the beach on the occasion of Aarattu and also at other times. The early inhabitants recollect beheadings done in public on this beach. They are quite old and even memory of this violent side of the beach will soon be forgotten.
In those days the beach existed. Nothing more. Its pristine beauty was not marred by constructions. Then the airport came, which of course was good for the city. And soon the beach was sort of quantised.
One such particle is the Tsunami beach. The old Shaghumugham beach with a new name.
Now beach is not really accessible or safe. You can enjoy snacks by street vendors, listen to sad songs sung by blind hungry singers. If you are moved they will not say no to some financial help.
It's not a park as such but more of a car parking facility with some adjoining facilities
Pros
Well maintained and neat
Good car parking space.
Cons
This has got to be the least imaginative name that you can assign to a park.
Tsunami beach park ? Really?
You can spend a nice evening over here. After 8:30, there is no public transport to Trivandrum. That's one problem .
Nostalgic place, a picnic tour site from my childhood...
They charge twenty rupees for the parking and won't let you in to the beach. Gibberish people and their gibberish decisions.
