Popularly known as Trichambaram temple, this Sree Krishna Temple in the Kannur district of Kerala Trichambaram temple is a Krishna temple located at Taliparamba in the kannur of Kerala, South India. The main deity of the temple is Krishna after "Kamsavadham", sitting in Raudra posture There is a general belief that this Vishnu temple was built soon after the Siva temple at Taliparamba in order to temper the fierceness of Siva. There is a special elanji tree. Which blooms with flowers but not with fruits. Actually it's cursed by Vishnu. There is a story related with saint who came to visit God. He was facing problem with skin disease. While resting under this tree, the fruits from the tree keep falling into saint which disturbs him. So God cursed tree not to grow fruits . It could be related to the legend that the royal elephant named Kuvalayapida charged toward Krishna and Balarama while they were entering the palace of Kamsa. Since this incident Krishna had developed hatred against elephants. Because of this Elephants are not allowed near Trichambaram Temple he annual temple festival is a fortnight-long event beginning on Kumbham Thitambu Nriththam ie sort of dance with the idols of Krishna and Balarama is held at Pookoth Nada. There are three ponds near this temple. The gods are Shiva, Ganapathi, Sastha, Vishvaksena and Snake deities near the temple complex. The sanctum has carvings and murals from the 15th and 16th centuries. In the temple complex there is also a shrine dedicated to Durga which is in middle of a pond. This temple is also called North Guruvayoor, since it is located to the north of Guruvayoor Temple.
