Tree of Life Grand Oak Manor Binsar - Hotel in Regariya - Almora, India

We stayed at the Grand Oak Manner for 2 days last week. It's a colonial-era bungalow situated deep within the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. One can spend several hours exploring the grounds and old buildings of the estate, wandering through the different rooms in the house and just sitting with a book and a cup of tea in the tastefully-decorated lounge or the verandas. The beauty and peace of the dense surrounding forests provides an excellent backdrop wherein one can relax and soak in the old-world charm of the place. We had a wonderful time walking through several trails in the forest, keeping an eye out for wildlife and exploring the cottages and bungalows of bygone days. Location and Accessibility: On a clear day, one should get a beautiful view of the snow-capped peaks as well as the other hill-top estates and woods of Binsar. Although there is a motorable road which winds through the sanctuary, it is not in good repair. The last 500 metres to the hotel requires a 4 wheel drive. Entry into the sanctuary is Rs150/- per person and Rs250/- per vehicle. Staff Hospitality: The staff is extremely caring, warm and attentive. They look after all your needs and will very happily give you a tour around the property if you wish for one. Food: Food is good and fresh but not fabulous and a little expensive. We opted for a la carte but one can choose to have a Kumauni buffet for Rs1100+taxes. Breakfast is usually complimentary. All in all, we had a lovely experience and we thank the people at Grand Oak Manner for making sure we had such a special time.

Tree of life Grand Oak Manor ... its an experience... a wonderful experience. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The views from the hotel are superb. The hotel is very much inside the binsar wildlife sanctuary and there are lots of bird trails and walks in and around the hotel. The hotel is accessible by 4 wheel drive for the last 600 meters. (either your own or the free service provided by the hotel on check in and check out) The food served is very tasty and the portion size is large. We visited in May with young kids and the experience was great.

An excellent property to spend blissful time, away from all hustle bustle. It's within the binsar sanctuary with an exciting drive within the reserve. The last 600 mts aren't for the faint hearted! The resort takes care of that.. Loved the property and the area around.. one can easily spend two days without needing to step out anywhere! The rooms are well kept and comfortable with a royal touch to them and ask the interiors.. The chef is excellent with a great touche to the food and lip-smacking preps. Found the place a little confused on whether they are a "overpriced homestay" or a "correctly priced resort"! At times we were told that the kitchen was closed, or that they couldn't serve in the room (which was 10 feet away from the kitchen) ... very petty stuff coming from a resort where one is paying handsomely to be looked after well... Overall, an excellent place to be with the hope that the staff will be more warm.

It's a great place to unwind, since there is no network in the middle of the sanctuary at the resort. The food is amazing and staff of great help. They do have WiFi but was a little patchy. Worth spending your time and money for a couple of days

Old colonial bungalow perched on top of a hill with fabulous view of the Himalayan range. Located within a deeply wooded reserve forest. Access is a bit difficult due to the terrain. Ideal place to chill out and enjoy the good meals, the step back more than 150 years, and the snow covered Himalayan peaks if the weather behaves.

What an amazing place to stay in the map of nature.. found the room service a little lacking. . But other than that, amazing.. The ride upto the place is off the beaten track, but enjoyable.. it's got a great vibe and it's an amazing view!

Lovely property with very strategic location and a 360 deg view. Totally loved it. Went for a couple of 5-7 km hikes. Absolutely stunning views as you can see in the attached photos. Rooms are not all the same but were clean and functional. Food was decent, so was the housekeeping. Problem with net connectivity, as you would expect in a remote location. Nice and helpful staff. But they do not issue any proper bills for your stay so ask for the bills in advance. But nothing to beat the views, the fresh air and the location. Would highly recommend it.

This property is an heritage English bungalow situated inside Binsar wild life sanctuary and on the table top mountain. Very well maintained staff is very polite and helpful. The place is best suited for meditation. Bird watching , wild life , flower and lots of tree and vegetation. Beautiful mountain and valley view , can enjoy awesome sunset and sunrise with local kumaouni cuisines. Service 4.8/5 Taste 4.5/5 Value for money 4.6/5 Place 4.8/5
