Tharangambadi is a beautiful place to visit when in Karaikal. It was once a Danish colony and now, the rich heritage is still maintained. This town gate marks the entry to the once Danish colony. The architecture of the gate itself was super cool! We need to take a short walk from here to reach other tourist attractions. This place is around 1km distance from Tharangambadi bus stop.
Excellent spot to spend the day in historical place with beach near by , lovely scenery and lots of learning from danish fort, no problem in parking space, church also near by the fort, beach is as usual filled with lovers but can go with the family no issues on that, only problem there is no public toilets around.
Tranquebar is a tranquil destination known as the land of the singing waves. This tiny beach town dates back to the 14th century with the establishment of the Shiva Temple built in 1306. The place has definitely a lot of history to learn, amazing architecture to adore, and a lot of activities to enjoy in one of the best Tamil Nadu tourist places. Best Time To Visit Tranquebar: November to March
It's an old Danish trading port. A sleepy coastal town in Tamil Nadu. The fort is the major attraction. Do not go on Friday as the fort is closed. You could also check out the museum and the Ziegenbalg House where you can find a 19th Century printing press in operation. The lady here will also give you a demo of how the printing used to take place. But, the place does not require an overnight stay. I suggest a day trip to Tranquebar from Pondicherry at best.
Good place to visit with boy's squad. But the place is quite so dirty with fish and crab remainings and also it doesn't have an bathroom or clean water resources to bath so keep that in mind while bathing in sea. The sea is salty.... About the palace the Palace is very good and built during the Danish period many monuments are found in the castle and looks nice. The castle management charges an minimum amount to enter the castle. Nice area to cover the photo shoot.....
Dutch fort and remains of fort are jail, watch tower, pantry, etc
This quaint gateway used to be called Landsporten . From here towards the beach is the historic zone of Old Tranquebar or Tarangambadi . Landsporten, this simple arch with the Danish Coat of Arms is the gateway to the Danish Quarters. The madinry arch has the Danish Ciat of Arms embossed on it . First built in the 16th Century as soin as the Danish people had set base here , but since that was destroyed in an accident , the prrsent gate was built in 1792. It is an historic monument still standing , but rarely given a cleaning or white wash .
Great historical place to visit and very good place for photographers. Recommended picnic spot

Very old temple, temple structure is new, but the moolavar , ambal statues are very old. Lot of stories are behind in this temple. There is no proper maintenance, providing importance to Dutch fort only. Very beautiful sea view from this temple. Try
We contacted them via phone. They responded well and quickly. The beach house is more of a cottage or home than a resort. It's fitted in between nature. The beach view rooms, the birds, the amenities, and the service were all amazing. Food is provide
The property is well maintained, first line in front of the sea, great food and service. Surprised that this property is not booked completely all the time. I have stayed here before 2016 and now again in 2023.
I am so privileged to see another historical church and preach the word if God to a group of pastors in this church. This church had the baptism of first five protestant baptisms in entire India. Also it is the church that hosted the first initiation
Thanga House is a multilayered experience of finesse, great architecture and little things that spell attention to detail. Located on Goldsmith Street, the place has a historical ring to it with the added sound of the waves lapping nearby. Every corn
