Torna Fort - Fortress in Charhat Wadi - Pune, India

My favourite one Torna, this time climbed this fort from meta village, this route is just love with some rocky patches and stiff up climbing. Had a best morning drive on this road too... next time will go from khopdewadi route.

Torna fort is a Medium difficulty trek the views and breeze are spectacular the last leg of the trek is quite the challenge with huge boulders on the top and a rope to the rescue. Monkeys loom around at the top so need to be careful. Wear shows with good grip and grooves and you tend to slip a lot in the rains. It takes a good 3 hours for one day way trek to the top of you have medium fitness levels and a photo freak. The way down is a challenge as well so don't take it lightly. Have fun while trekking!

Two trails available to go on Torna fort. One trail is of 2.5 hours which is little easy trail and another one is of 1.5 hours which is moderate and here photo shows the second trail. Amazing experience specially during rainy season. Who love going on treks must visit once. Cleanliness on fort is quite good. There are also some temples on fort.

chtrptii shivaajiimhaaraaj ki jy We have visited Torna Fort on 19th November 2023.Its was immense pleasure to Visit Torna Fort.Historically Torna Fort has great importance,It is first fort conquered by Ch Shivaji Maharaj at the age of 17 years.As it's first fort of Swarajya it's named as Toran of Swarajya I.e. Torana Gad,it is also Known as Prachandgad I.e. huge fort.The area of Torna fort is really huge which is covered with many mountains,hills,peaks.The fort was very well constructed and developed by Ch.Shivaji Maharaj till date long tatbandi ,huge buruj are in good condition ,nowadays government takes initiative of maintaining fort structure.You can reach at Torna fort by route Pune-Velhe-Torna Fort Base .Vehicle can reach upto Torna For base where ample parking is available with food stall from where you can take food,water as you will not get water and food for longer distance.From fort base it will take 1 to 1.5 hour to reach at fort top via Bini Darwaja ,the darwaja is still in very good condition and entrance is in curved manner which is kept curved in strategically to confuse enemy's reached upto door.Firstly you will reach at goddesses of fort Mata Mengai Devi,the temple is in good condition you can take blessings of goddesses and start to explore fort.You have to visit Zunjar Machi,Sadar, Budhala Machi,Chitta darwaja,Hatti maidan,Konkani darwaja,water tanks etc.Many of time rapplers explore Budhala Machi peak by rappling .To explore total Torna fort it will take atleast 2 days.There are range trekk paths from Torna fort to Rajgad fort which is famous range trekk of approx.5 to 6 hours for regular trekkers,we did same on same day which is thrilling experience. Zunjar Machi is really strategically constructed and still is in good condition. Budhala Machi is really looks challenging structure. The trekk is moderate ,also the fort base has dam which is really beautiful and scenic veiw. Try to maintain area neat in clean,don't throw plastic items here and there.

First time trek to Torna from Rajgad was a grt experience. Torna is a huge fort not easy to climb from any direction, it will test you in all sense. View from top are beautiful. First fort conquered by Chh. Shivaji Maharaj during his conquest to build the Swarajya. Lots of myth and stories are still told about this fort. Lot of points to visit. You will find peace here.

The views from midway of the hike to the fort from where one can see the dam and the civilisation on a misty and rainy September afternoon was nothing short of mesmerising. The hike from the village starts on road- can car and bike upto a point, and after that the trail starts with slippery mud, beautiful pink/violet/lilac flowers welcoming you all along the way. From the first plateau, the view is just stunning- can spend a whole day just starting at nature's beauty. Trek further up and it gets steeper and steeper and support structures gets available where needed. The top of the fort also can get good views.

One of the highest forts of chatrapati shivaji maharaj, this is my first trek and I loved it. Very nice, narrow trails, some time you have to wait for others who are coming from the upper side. I recommend the stick because it will help you on the trek. If you are carrying water bottles please don't throw it there. People who will sell lemon juice, water bottle, guava, cucumbers. Go early in the morning it will help you and you will get a very good view.

The Torna Fort was my one of the memorable trekking experiences. You can say it a little bit easy and somewhere hard in the rainy season. This place has nothing to see like a fort, but trust me, it gives nature's scenamatic view and unbelievable experience than any other fort you've seen before. Please be careful for adults of 40 or above as it is very slippery when trekking.
