Unknown even to many locals, this abandoned and half-overgrown cemetery at the edge of the old town contains the tombs of the Babi nawabs of Junagadh and their family members ... The most important tombs here are those of Sher Khan Salabat Khan (1748-58), who was the first Babi nawab, and Mahabat Khan I (1758-75), the second Babi nawab. Source : Lonely Planet. Junagadh State was founded in 1735 by Muhammed Sher Khan Babi (r.1748-1758), the first of a line of Nawabs from the Muslim Babi dynasty. Their tombs, known as maqbaras, are situated in enclosures within the city walls in two groups dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building on the right of this view is Maija Sahiba's Tomb. It was erected by the mother of a ruler of Junagadh, Nawab Mahabat Khanji II (r.1851-1882) and contains her tomb. It is a free-standing structure with a square plan inside a walled enclosure, near the tombs of the Bara Sayyid or twelve saints. The inner tomb is surrounded by a colonnade of cusped arches and crowned by onion domes and small minarets. There are cusped arches around the verandah of the mausoleum and on the window and doors of the inner building. The entire tomb is embellished with sculpted floral designs. Source : British Library.

It is an old monument which requires renovation. The architecture is awesome and the place is serene. You can enter the tombs after a little research because the entrance is hidden between shops on Dhal road. You can see the part of it from Chitakhana chowk. You can feel the place when you go to each tomb. Usually people don't know it and don't visit it, but it is recommended if you visit Junagadh. It is at the centre of the city. No fees.

These tombs belongs to the ancestors of famous actress Parveen Babi ....and this place is worth seeing... intricate carvings on the building was there

This place is secure place ,not marketed yet to public also govt. not beautify the place or not repaired also, this place having good architectural and ancient tomb with makbara of king of junagadh with their family and relatives. I believe if govt take good care of this than it will be the one of place for visit in junagadh for tourist.

it is build 18th century, it is tombs and graves of babi nawab of junagadh. it is ruined and not maintained. in fact being from junagadh i didn't know about this structure. recently i came to know and visit . i felt sad to see that it is ruined and completely ignored by archeology of department of gujarat. it is difficult to find , i walk so much even asked local about it but even they don't know.

As usual, under the Archaeological Survey of India but not preserved by them. I felt that this place once belonged to the Hindus and turned into a tomb of the Babis.... There are many evidences and symbols in the architecture that point to a Hindu place...

There are tombs and graves of Babi Nawabs of Junagadh and their family. It is located exactly opposite hotel relief in Junagadh.
