A wonderful place to be. It is very close to nature. The serene scenic beauty of nature will truly leave you spell bounded. There is a kids park. There you get small snacks. Some animals can also be found. I could see deer, few snakes..In one enclosure there were two pythons. From there you can see the Dam from the bottom. Ask the information center for the proper view point. There is a 6-7 stored tower, from where you will get to see both sides of the dam. Many shots where taken from there two.. Also, nearby you get fresh fish.. as well as fish fry.. Definitely a must try.

A good one day destination for family and friends. Located in Erode dist, this dam is very close to nature as it lays close to the STR region. Childrens park and watch tower are major attractions here and continue on this road you can reach Hoganekkal falls located in Dharmapuri dist. if you plan to club on single trip. Roads are very good and less traffic.

Mettur Dam is one of the largest dams in India and also the largest in Tamil Nadu, located across the river Kaveri where it enters the plains. Built in 1934, it took 9 years and the effort of 17,000 men to complete.The dam receives inflows from its own catchment area, Kabini Dam and Krishna Raja Sagara Dams located in Karnataka. There is a park at the base of the dam called Ellis Park. It provides irrigation and drinking water facilities for more than 12 districts of Tamil Nadu and hence is revered as the life and livelihood-giving asset of Tamil Nadu. It was constructed under the supervision of an Irish engineer, Vincent Hart, who was also the chief engineer of the project. After the construction was complete, Before constructing the dam authorities evacuated the people of Nayambadi and some other villages where the dam was sited. When the water level of the reservoir recedes, even now old Christian Church of Nayamabadi and some Hindu temples from other villages emerge from it Those people who migrated from Nayambadi have settled down in Martalli, Cowdalli and other nearby villages. The total length of the dam is 1,700 metres .The dam creates Stanley Reservoir. The Mettur Hydro Electrical power project is also quite large. The dam, the park, the major hydroelectric power stations, and hills on all sides make Mettur a tourist attraction. Upstream from the dam is Hogenakkal Falls. The maximum level of the dam is 120 ft and the maximum capacity is 93.47 tmc ft. Area of reservoir 42.5 square kilometer.Its capacity of 93.4 billion cubic feet is nearly twice that of its Karnataka counterpart of KRS.

The place is good,but there is no proper maintenance.

Very bad experience and maintenance and washroom don't have door at all ...they charging per person RS 5 very less amount I suggest they can charge more but maintain well
