One of the panchabhuta lingas.. Excellent temple with divine bliss..Amman and jambukeswara linga great feel. Absolute pleasure to see monuments architecture idols big and very nicely built more than 1000 years ago.. strange thing is fee local people don't know about it.. And if you travel here Srirangam Ranganatha temple just 2.5 km can be covered vice versa.
One of the most interesting temples with fascinating structures in it. Definitely worth a visit and the spiritual aspect of this place intensifies as near as you get to the main Garbha Gudi. There's wheelchair accessibility as well for this vast expanse of space. The pillars are all interesting when looked upon closer inspection.
The temple is located in Srirangam(near to Tiruchirappalli), Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati are the main deities here. There are some specific opening times for the darshanam mainly after 4 Pm. There are several facilities like free Slipper stand/room and washrooms are there. Outside the temple some hotels are also there to enjoy good meal . If you are going to visit the main Srirangam temple then you should visit this temple also it is nearby and bus service are there very frequent and fare around Rs5/person. From Trichy station, buses going to Srirangam will be available from central bus stand @10-15/person and if direct buses are not available then take bus for chaithram bus stand(@Rs7/ person) and then from chaithram to Srirangam(@ Rs7/person). For returning same route can be taken. As per the Wikipedia, "Jambukeswarar Temple, Thiruvanaikaval (also Thiruvanaikal, Jambukeswaram) is a temple of Shiva in Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) district, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. and one of the five major Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu representing the Mahabhuta or five elements; this temple represents the element of water, or neer in Tamil." Thiruvanaikovil is one of the Panchapootham representing water. It's constructed by Chengutuvan chozan during AD 2nd century. It's very big temple. Must see place. We can maintain properly.
It is one of the five major Shiva temples of Tamil Nadu as Lord Shiva persist in form of Jambukeswarar swamy. It is a beautiful temple with lot of peace and solace existing. Art work of sculptor is tremendous and Vastu have been corrected from time to time. * Temple represents element of water and sanctum of Jambukeswarar has an underground stream. All the five prime elements of nature reside here-Pancha Bhoota Sthalam. * It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams. * Akilandeswari temple also exist here in form of goddess Parvati. * The legend is that Shiva directed Parvati to go to earth from Kailasam to do penance. She chose Jambu forest(Thiruvanai koil) to conduct penance. At last, Shiva gave darshana to Akilandeswari and taught her Shiva gnana and she took Upadesha facing east of Shiva. It is another astonishing story that spider and elephant were protecting Lingam. * Massive outer wall covering 5th precinct known as Vibudi Prakaar stretches over long distance, 2 ft thick, 25 ft height, two gopuras, sthala vriksham Or holy tree in white Jambuka on South eastern wall of sanctum. Western side-Mukha Mantapa contain four pillars and bronze Nandi. The window has nine viewing apertures believed to represent Navagraha. *Various inscriptions from Chola king during 11-12 th century and temple expanded by Hoysala king Someswara. * It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams.
Peaceful and amazing. One of the five temples of god shiva representing 5 elements of nature, here the water element. There is an elephant in this temple premises which is one of the most beautiful and graceful I have ever seen, mesmerising. The divine goddess here is Akhilandeswari, important place of shakti worship in tamilnadu along with kamakshi, meenakshi.
A must visit temple. It's a huge temple. A very peaceful and beautiful place. Calm and clean. Easily one can spend 3-4 hours in this temple. Just loved this place
Tieubanaikovil Jamukeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and also one of Pancha Bhootha Linga which is made of Water by Parvathi. You will also find Akilandeshwari (Parvathi) Sannidhi in the same campus. Darshan take time as one needs to bow down and visit Linga in a 4 feet small mandapam inside garbhagudi. Plan your visit accordingly. Very closer to Srirangam main temple, u can hire a auto.
