Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, Yavatmal - Featured Reviews (742)
One of the best experiences. This place is so quiet and peaceful, away from the chaos. Though we wouldn't get a chance to see the tiger but the view and the environment makes it worthy.
The forest is not that dense but still a good ride if you love the jungle feel. The guide we had was quite knowledgeable. We did 2 safaris, one from sunna gate and other from mathni gate... although they pass through the same route... Saw a tiger in the bushes in the first one....spotted a tiger with 2 cubs in the second safari. It was an ultimate experience ....seeing them so upclose barely 10 ft from us...it's a small forest with 15 tigers...so spotting should be easier
One of the Biodiversity Hotspot in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. The place offer safari (Morning and Evening) by gypsy. One can book Safari online on magicalmelghat website. You will spots mammals, birds and can witness the beauty of Jungle. The park also offer and allows to run your own vehicle through jungle, only condition it should be full SUV or four wheel drive.
We had heard about Tipeshwar and PPL gave review that tiger sight is very much possible, so we planned a trip. There are 2 rides available. One at morning 5.30am and other afternoon 3.30pm. We took morning safari with all hopes that tiger will be visible before getting sunny. But there was no tiger sighting. There are lot of monkeys, peacocks, deers and birds. The forest is not very dense nor th e trees are huge enough to provide shades. All the jeeps go one after other with same route due to which there is lot of noise, this might be reason that animals didn't came out. Overall experience was not very satisfactory.
It's a typical wild life safari spot.. There are 3 gates here namely Sunna, Kodori and Mathani, however there are common routes inside so anyone can enter from any gate but still can visit all the spots inside the safari. However its advisable to enter from Sunna gate as compritively other gates are far from the core area thus more than an hour required just to reach core area.
must go to place for all wild life enthusiasts! Makes for great photography. Gets you hooked to wildlife adventure! Had a fantastic sighting of four tigers at point 115. A mother with three cubs 1.25years each. Majestic creatures, this sanctuary has done a great job at preserving the tigers. Early morning sightings enable one to see the kill.
Animals are very few, make a visit once the sanctuary is converted to a tiger reserve. Safaris needs to be better managed and guides need to be trained to conduct safaris. When we spotted a tiger cub all the jeeps gathered there the tourists & guides were chatting loudly and it scared away the cubs and we missed a good sighting. Jungle safaris is all about maintaining calm and experiencing wildlife at a close distance. Our evening safari guide mentioned they had tiger sighting the previous day but the morning safari guide was more honest and told us there was no tiger sighting for over a week. For good tiger sighting, visit in summers only from March to May. Rest of the months they keep 2 out 3 routes closed due to rains in the safari, so chances of sighting is very less. Government needs to take better care of this forest.
This wildlife sanctuary is managed by the Maharashtra State Government. This project is not part of the national Tiger project. So this park is small compared to the nearby Tadoba tiger reserve. The number of tigers are less (only 5 or 6 adults and 11 or 12 cubs) so the chances of spotting the tigers are less. There is lot of constructions going on inside the park ( road construction, forest maintenance by burning the dry leaves) which is driving away all the animals into the deeper parts and far away from the safari drives. Over the weekend of Feb 3 to 6th no one could spot the tigers as the forest maintenance was taking place by burning the dry leaves along the safari drives. The only good thing about it is you can drive your own vehicle and don't have to rent the gypsy if your vehicle can handle dirt roads!
