The historical place "Tin Pahar".
It's basically an ancient banian tree. Which is not accessible by visitors. A boundary wall of wire mess has been fixed arround it. Visitors may come here, they may experience the beautiful creation from outside the boundary. It is another tourist attraction point of the Tagore place, Shantiniketan. Any one may reach Tin Pahar from Bolepur railway station or Jamboni Bus stop with the help of Toto.
There are many rumors arround the old banian tree. Most of Toto drivers say this tree was planted by Rabindranath Tagor. But actually Maharshi Devendranath Thakur, fathar of Rabindranath Thakur planted this banian tree. Earlier there was a pond in this place and the soil of the pond was laid in three steps. Due to which Maharshi Devendranath Thakur named it Tin Pahar. And the giant banian tree is surrounding the place. Now the ancient giant tree and the three steps are visible to all. And this place is famous on the name of Tin Pahar.
Many says Tagore has written many poem and songs by sitting under this baniyan tree. The famous poem "HAT (haatt)" was written at this place. Although this information is not verified.
Anyway there are so many things related to Rabindranath Tagor at Shantiniketan. This Tin Pahar is one of them.
Teen pahari as the name says is a three layered structure inside Viswabharati. Beside this you would find a palm tree on which Gurudev has penned down a wonderful poem.
"Taal gachh ek paye dariye.."
Everything about Rabindranath Tagore. It feels like every breath he took there left a new shade of greenery and peace and nature.
Teen Pahar is a Famous Spot in Bolpur near Shantiniketan.. The place is a old big Banayan tree. The tree is very old and gigantic. The place is famous because Rabindranath Tagore use to sit and wrote his novels and scripture there. The place is a must visit..
The historical Banyan tree also known as Teen Pahar for a reason. There are 3 steps land under the tree but why? That's a different story. After Covid you have to take pictures from the outside of the campus.

Teen Pahar, it is actually a very old banyan tree, which was planted by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore (father of Rabindranath Tagore)... Later Rabindranath Tagore built three steps around the root of the tree... He used to spend most of his time sitting and writing poetry under this Banyan tree.. Even on the cover page of his book "Sahaj Path", the picture of tree refers to this Banyan tree only... So if you are visiting Santiniketan then don't miss this place..
Direction:- From Bolpur Santiniketan Station northwards via Bolpur Santiniketan Road.
A beautiful set up by Rabindranath Thakur as said by the toto driver. I'm not very sure. It looks really good. There are three steps on which there is a big baniyan tree.
It's in the boundary. You can see it only from outside.
