Thrikkunnappuzha Sree Dharmasastha Temple - Hindu temple in Thrikkunnapuzha - Alappuzha, India

I recently visited this temple and found it to be a serene and spiritually enriching experience. The temple exudes an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility, making it an ideal place for worship and reflection.

One of the oldest Dharma Shastha temple in Kerala only 500 meters away from Arabian Sea It says that sastha is the Hindu version of lord Buddha and the place Thrikkunnapuza was one of the important place for Buddhist monks in olden days Sreemoolavsam was situated in this region The statue here is bigger than other sastha temples It is located in Thrikkunnapuza junction near police station Karkkidaka vaavu bali is very popular and important here People from other districts also come here for bali darppan

The presiding deity is Lord Sree Dharma Sastha along with his wife and child. You can find 21 inch height idol here. Wife is positioned right to him and the son is positioned in between both as behind. This type of idol you cant see in any other temples in kerala. Presence of Lord Muruga is there in the north-east side of the temple compound. Maha Vishnu, Ganapathy, Sree Durga, Yakshi, Nagayakshi and Nagaraja are the sub-deities here. It is believed that this temple has over 5000 years of glory. This shrine is also known as Padinjare Pathinettampadi (18 auspicious steps in western side). Festival starts on the month of Vrischikam and it lasts for 10-days. On the month of Karkidakam, large number of devotees will come for Balipindam (a customs offering food to the departed souls) . Kalakabhishekam, Appam, Ganapathy Homam, Bhagavathy Seva, Archana, Panchamrutham and Dhara are main offerings.

Came here thrice, the price for rituals at the temple is cheap. The locals will help you while carrying out post cremation rituals at the beach , they are experts swimmers who will also rescue you if you drown. It is advisable to gift or compensate them for their kindness.
