We went on Saturday and had our lunch in this beautiful property. No one can justify the real beauty of this place which is possible only by visiting this Bunglow.
Important information- During the weekend only, food is available for the visitors. Charge is 200 entry fee and 300 for lunch. Saturday they serve combo meals and Sunday is buffet. Whereas on weekdays only lodging is provided which is 6700 per night.
The location and place is very nice. It was peaceful and the area is huge so lot of options for taking photos and videos. Had a great time.
Thengal Manor features a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and a garden in Jorhat. Among the various facilities of this property are WIFI, a terrace, private parking and a shared lounge.
A magnificent heritage place with a early 20th century bungalow built by a famous tea planter who contributed to the socio-culture aspect of Assam during pre independence period.
Incredible experience. Bunglow is 93 years old. It is a history itself. Food and hospitality of the staff is awesome. Unique equipments are there for display. Accommodation is also good. Such a calm environment. It is a very good place for a short vacation.
The beauty of this concept of heritage buildings being turned into tourist bnb, has been ruined by the sick mentality of the people sitting at the heritage office whose running the place. The lady who picks up the call if you call this property has so much of negativity and moral issues with rude and a hint of superiority complex.. when i called, she first asked me about my marriage certificate which is wrong in so many levels. Then , the attitude on her tone and suddenly disconnecting the call , are some of the gestures I had to face.. I will definitely not book , as i could imagine the level of courtesy i will receive in the property, if the people running it are so rude.
A good place to relax and enjoy away from the hustle bustle of the city. Though on the costlier side, food was pretty good and homelike. One has to contact them prior to the visit for arrangement of food.
The place is quiet and peaceful. But the location is on the outskirts, so it is better to arrange transportation beforehand.
It's my 2nd visit to this awesome place. It is situated in Jalukonibari, Na Ali, near Jorhat. My first visit was long back, when it was called only Thengal. The owner of this place late Siva Prasad Barooah, then renowned tea planter, father of late Hemendra Prasad Barooah, also a tea planter and business tycoon of Northeast.
Though the present Thengal Bhawan was built in April, 1965, yet the first Assamese daily newspaper 'Dainik Batori' was published from this place under the sponsorship of S P Barooah and the same was edited by Bagmibor Nilomoni Phukan (popularly known as Koka) in the year 1935/36.
Entire area is well maintained.
Nowadays, after naming the place as Thengal Manor, one can stay here, arrange marriage or other party.
