It was a really different experience in boat journeys to explore the forest for animals Got to see only a few deer , tortoise , monkey and forest buffalo, need some luck to see animals They come to drink water, I feel in summer is better option. Well maintained by government department. They manage crowd perfect in boat setting, travel in bus . Better book tickets in online for boating.

We booked the boating experience online and were staying at Periyar house. Hence didn't go through the long queues for tickets. For the boat ride, it was fully booked without any vacant seats. Children did their bit by making noise throughout and the boat drivers did their bit by starting the 3:30 pm boat ride at 3:50 pm. The boat takes us through the lake while maintaining a lot of distance from the animals on the shore, so for people without binoculars or DSLR lenses nothing much is visible. The whole journey is of 1 hour which feels like an eternity once you are on the boat. You can go for this ride if you are with family, If they reduce the duration of the ride and take the boat nearer to the shore it can be worth the time.

Although I haven't rode boat, but goes there as it is in the Trek route to jungle campsite of periyar reserve forest. After ticket booking a bus will take you to this place inside the jungle. Numbers of boat there waiting for the tourist. There is various option in boat riding, it can be rafting for total day,or it can be a motor driven boat for 2 hours or more. I don't know about the scenic beauty of the boat route but the starting point alone is a beautiful place to visit.

For enjoying boating around the forest you can choose it. There is no guarantee for seeing animals, it's very rare. Only disadvantage is that we can only be seated in the alloted once.

The place is beautiful and relaxing. Recommended to visit during weekends to avoid traffic. The bus to this place is expensive. If you are interested in walking, you may walk there . If you are lucky, you may see some animals according to bus driver

BEWARE!! Security at parking and ticket counter officer will tell boats are repair and boating is unavailable, just to lure people to Private Safari ride which is expensive. Do not fall for it! We went ahead and took bus tickets and reached the boating place. And the offline tickets were available and being provided. Really disappointing they take the tourists for granted. Offline tickets may be limited but are available, just take extra step to reach the boating place and verify Boating experience was serene and beautiful. We went in July and could not watch much animals. But the boating journey was good to enjoy as a family

The views are gorgeous. We went for the 9.30 am boating. Better would be the early morning 7.30 slot to spot animals, apparently. We spotted deers boars mongoose and elephants. The ride is 6+6 km to and fro. There is an entrance fee and boating fee . Cash only.

Very nice view. Its inside parriar tiger reserve, just beside the government resort. But heavy rush is there. Buying boating tickets in advance is very much required.
