The Takshila Hotel - Hotel in Leh - Leh Ladakh, India

Just returned from a short stay in this Takshila Hotel. For some reasons, the room are not the same. When first checked in the room has balcony and upon returning again, the room has shrunk. Not sure if this help, but good idea to inform the hotel management known about your request if balcony is required.. Especially in this sort of area, always good to have a balcony. The services are quickly attended too, like towel changed etc. I'm very particular about the towel cleanliness. This can be vastly improved as the towels provided is below acceptable level. Location is the furthest if measured from town. Potential improvement is to provide a free or even paid shuttle into town to make up for this. Taxi ride can be ridiculous although they claimed holiness about it. My neighbour paid just 1/5 of what i was asked for my taxi ride. Beware of the taxi scam.

Views are beautiful . I liked that they planted their own vegetables and bonus was enjoying the delicious tender greens and produce cooked on site for our dinner . It's in a quiet location . Rooms are spacious. Boss and staffs was friendly and helpful .

We stayed in multiple five-star hotels after this, during the entire trip. Found this one to be the friendliest (besides Khaygar Nubra). The owner cares about the stay and helps plan the trip besides recommending a cab. We loved it! I will highly recommend it to friends, family and anyone planning the Leh-Nubra-turtuk-pangong trip.

We had a recent Leh-Ladakh trip, and started from Leh and it was an excellent start of the trip while we stayed and experienced great hospitality and service from the owner Stenzin and his team. Takshila has excellent rooms with great view of mountains and Leh city. Room services are also top notch with great food at breakfast, lunch & dinner. The owner himself takes care of his guests and doesn't make them feel away from home. Its indeed a home away from home ! I would rate it 5 out 5

Best hotel to stay at in Leh. It was like living at home. The food was super delicious, especially the soups. The location was a little away from the city which made it amazing to relax and be away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel has beautiful views of the Himalayas and most importantly the owner and his family were the kindest and most helpful! Loved the whole experience and would definitely come back here

Loved my stay at THE TAKSHILA, 29th May-23 onwards .The rooms were well maintained, and the staff was courteous .The food was served Hot and fresh, and variety was good. The proprietor was a great help and made us feel at home .He arranged for the taxi tour ( he has great connections.. )for 7 days at reasonable price .Whenever I come to Leh ,I'd stay here again . The best part of the hotel is its location, it is out of main town in a calm and tranquille area. so this is also a problem if you want to go to market frequently. Room is OK , food is good. There is no lift so if you are placed in 2nd floor, without acclimatization you will feel dyspneic. The room service is very good. i will give 4 and 1/2 star.

I stayed here when I visited Ladakh recently for the first time. My whole trip was perfect only because of the owner of this hotel Mr Stanzin. He helped me with everything like I was his family and made sure my stay was perfect. I loved the view from my room as I could see Shanti Stupa and snow mountains. The food was really tasty and all cuisines are amazing. The choice of hotel interior decoration was particularly beautiful. I do recommend you to check this before booking your stay in Leh. I'm very thankful to Mr Stanzin for treating me like family.
