We had a bad experience with booking. Though we had booked, when we went there they said our booking wasn't there even though we showed the proof. It left, us 2 girls, totally exhausted from the 5 hour flight in trauma. We had to find another at the late hours. We understood later that it's marriage season and guess they got better rates, which was when we checked the rates for the day

The rooms lack cleanliness, certain bathroom amenities are missing, towels have a yellowish tint and you often experience long wait times and multiple reminders for services. It's hardly worth the price, but the location is excellent, right by the main road.

Staying in Samilton was a pleasant experience and the food at 35 Bar and Lounge was great. We got a nice parking spot and were set to explore the locality. The staff was very friendly and helped us with all of our questions and requiremets. I would really recommend a stay in Samilton whenever visiting Kolkata.

Have been patronising this hotel ever since my very first visit to Kolkata and can totally count on it as far as its central location & it's cordial staff go. It does have a cosy homely vibe to it & the staff does every bit to make the guests comfortable. Food is basic.The restaurants & bar especially the infamous " The Basement" bar since it's erstwhile years has held the heart of all Kolkata youngsters since ages. Having said that there are quite a few factors that can go against the property's popularity & the most important being "maintainence". Being a preferred choice with many a Corporates they really need to spruce up their room interiors, old worn out wooden furniture, particularly the linen is very unclean. Basic items like hand tissue, bath mat etc need to be there. Shower caps are missing & service on call especially housekeeping is terribly lapse & laid back. Toilets never look clean & smell awful.... need a solid revamp. The place badly needs redoing considering its 3 star status. Hope they do something about it.
