The Old Courtyard Hotel - Hotel in Kochi - Ernakulam, India

This hotel is a historic gem in a prime location. Manager Ashley and his team provide a welcoming, attentive, and gracious guest experience. Customer service is exceptional. There was, however, some inconsistent water availability in my room. Ashley was able to get it repaired promptly, and he also allowed me to utilize an adjacent room in the meantime. It was still an inconvenience in any case, though. The only reason I am taking a star off is due to the owner's lack of graciousness regarding this matter. I requested a late check out (5 pm). The owner asked me to pay for a half day... i would have been more impressed if the extra payment had been waived in light of the water issues. It was not about the money at all, it was about customer service! Thankfully, Ashley and staff truly "get it!"

We had a wonderful stay here for a weekend. Manager Paul and all the staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean with basic amenities like kettle, fridge, tv, toiletries, tea and coffee, refillable glass bottle. The deluxe room had an extra sofa bed. We went there with 2 kids and a baby. The king size bed and sofa bed gave us plenty of room to sleep. The room also had a couch, chair, tables and wardrobes. The jacuzzi pool was also maintained well and they provide bath towels at the pool side. Only negative is that they don't have a kitchen to serve breakfast. They have a restaurant area with tables and cutlery to have food that can be ordered from outside.

I can highly recommend this hotel! Fantastic location, beautiful rooms and a nice little pool - ie good value for money. Travelling with a young child, at first we thought it would be inconvenient that the hotel doesn't serve breakfast but there's lots of places around like French toast and Kashi. When our son went to bed, we could sit at the peaceful courtyard just enjoying the evening. Another thing we really appreciated was the water dispensers where we could refill our own water bottles. And in the bathroom there were refillable shampoo and conditioners. Small but important steps towards more sustainable tourism. All staff are friendly and helpful. Extra thanks to Rose for sharing the history of the building and for everything concerning our booking!

True heritage property. Would recommend staying here for the excellent location and the vintage feel of rooms. Lot of attention paid to details throughout this small property. Rooms have fan and AC, but the windows are quite limited / small so you'll need to switch on lights always. There are mineral water dispensers. Swimming pool is small but a plus! Accessbility: All rooms are accessible only via steps and these old ones are quite steep!

Excellent location, very nice staff and helpful manager. The location on Princess Street cannot be beat. It is also well maintained and clean. The 3 star is for the room. It felt like we were given a leftover room even though we booked more than a month in advance. And we were told that it is a room normally reserved for walk ins but that was the only one left when we booked. Would have been happy with the room and as a walk in.

Great hotel: super friendly staff and a very quiet place to relax and cool down from the heat in the city! Also very convenient location, since everything is walking distance. Breakfast is also recommended as they make a different local specialty each morning!

A middle-of-the-road choice. It would have been a much more convenient place to stay if breakfast had been included. The surrounding cafes and restaurants don't open very early (8-8:30). There was hot water in our shower but the water pressure was weak. Bed was clean and comfortable though, and the location is ideal.

Really warm people and very neat property. One of the best heritage properties in Fort Kochi. Would definitely recommend and visit again!
