Being an Indo-lankan citizen I searched for srilankan Cuisine in chennai and found this hidden gem. Their flavour was authentic and original Ceylon flavour. The food was very tasty and high quality. The person who came and took our order was really good and helpful. The serving person doesn't understand either Tamil or English. Srilankan's are famous for their hospitality but upon entering the premises a lady sat at front doesn't give a damn to you and watches serials on mobile that too with loud volume. Even if you asked for any assistance from her she never gave a damn. So far me and my husband have visited this restaurant twice and experience with that lady was the same. This made the whole mood go off. But I would suggest everyone who wants to try Ceylon Cuisine here. The food was really good and the price was moderate. Usually this place is not very crowded so they will prepare the food and hand it over quickly
Food: Egg appam - The famous mutta appam served with a shower of pepper all over; soft inner layer had a hint of sweet flavor to it. Went great with the chicken gravy Devilled chicken - Their specialty chicken, which was almost dry tossed in authentic Lankan masala; the meat could've been cooked better, but the fragrance was awesome. It was sweet, sour yet very different Batter fried prawns - Yet another seafood attempt and wasn't satisfied completely; the prawns were undercooked and had the stench smell to it; the batter was okay with red chillies to aid the spiciness but the meat was not okay Chicken kothu idiyappam - Chopped and tossed string hoppers with veggies and chicken; this resembled a rice plate, and such was the level of presentation; mild spiced, very less meat but good enough Pol roti with pol sambol - A coconut roti served with coconut condiment (thokku); both were dry, and the sambol was spicy good, both gelled well together Sweet coconut milk - ridiculous that I paid that much for a normal coconut milk; no comments!! Ambiance/Price: A small place located on the first level with decent parking space. Their decor is good with sufficient seating space. Service was decent and courteous, but they should have suggested dishes from their end, too. Speaking of price, some dishes were worth the price, but some were ludicrous, inconsistent.
Kandyan is the most closest experience to Sri Lankan cuisine in Chennai A very unassuming place with staff who more than make up for any lacunae. We tried the Pol Roti, Jeera Rice, Chicken Curry, Pol Sambol with fish powdered into it & Prawn Thokku. The Pol Roti was spot on, rest were good too but was a bit Indianised version. The place was quite empty when we went for lunch. Guess one can venture a walk in. There is sufficient parking behind the building. Overall a very good restaurant serving Sri Lankan fare which is almost like home cooked food.
The Kothu Idiyapam was so tasty , we tried pol roti ,kathrika curry and seeni sambal all was very good tasted like authentic Sri Lankan food .
You can get some authentic tastes of Srilanka. Though the dishes are similar or same as South Indian dishes they were able to maintain the srilankan touch in it. Service is good but feel like understaffed.
Why cook when you can get your comfort food delivered at your doorstep from Y Cook in Besant Nagar? Formerly known as Y Cook and presently as The Kandyan, this restaurant specialises in home style Sri Lankan food, though there are South and North Indian options on the menu as well. We decided to go Sri Lankan and ordered the Idiyappam made with red rice, Pol Roti, Pol Sambol and Seeni Sambol (both with Masi), Dhal Fry, the Prawn Sodhi and some Fried Shankara Fish on the side. The food was simple but excellent, exactly as home food ought to be! My only crib was that the dishes seemed overly priced for the quantity delivered.
It's a very simple place with a pleasant atmosphere. Food tastes very good and the pricing is in the mediocre range. The surroundings are maintained very clean. Many wall paintings that will really keep you wondering and staring at the wall. See through kitchen. Vast parking space available even though there is a Cafe downstairs. Simple place great food.
Our go to place since they opened. Idiyappam, appam, stew, sambal and prawn kathrikai are our favourites. Love their clean kitchens, simple ambience and great food. Food has been consistent for years (since their Y Cook days!) and totally reasonable with their pricing. If you're thinking SriLankan, this is the place to go!
Recently I visited this Menswear outlet and thy had some amazing collection of clothes for Menswear. The best outlet to get Branded clothes for Mens at very good and reasonable price. Their Wallet collection is amazing. Wallets were all original bran
A small and cozy shop but surprisingly almost all common products are available from Jockey. Jockey products need no quality review at this time, they are good. The staff in the store are knowledgeable to offer right products based on the needs. M
